So in three years he hasn't missed a lot like Pickett Byrne or Sumner or even Murphy.

Not sure where squib came from?

Quantity of time out isn't a good metric to use when looking at a player's ability to reach peak fitness. Being out for a couple of small blocks mid-season can have a huge impact on a players fitness levels. So even though he missed a smaller volume of games missing 2-3 small blocks sends him back 3 times rather than just once which is what happened to guys who are out long-term.

Also not sure Sumner is a good reference point. He has never played a good month of AFL footy in his career
Exactly, and further more it's a lot easier to lose fitness than it is to gain it.

In terms of most forms of conditioning, you start to lose levels after 3 days of relative inactivity, and you're pretty much back to square one (natural fitness) after 3 weeks off your feet. Hence why rehab and recovery are so important for sustaining performance across a season.

Boekhurst has demonstrated two things consistently which gives him a chance to play regular AFL football.

1. He has genuine speed; and
2. He is a pretty good kick at goal.

What he also demonstrates consistently which counts against him is:

1. Poor execution of basic skills under any pressure ; and
2. Inability to win on on ones - contested football.

IF he was a bit bigger without losing any speed he might be better physically equipped to go in a tad harder and maybe have a bit more confidence in congestion....
Boekhorst seemed to be working on this in the 2016 pre-season, but once he got the wrist injury, all that progress seemed to fly out the window.

Personally, I'm not overly concerned as the general trend in sports has seen mass shed somewhat, but power to weight ratios are going up due to nutritional changes. That being said, Boekhorst could use a little more core strength and is probably underweight slightly for his likely AFL role.

At VFL level, I've certainly see him win some good aerial contests 1v1, so he's not without ability.

Funny isn't it,

1. All 5 RS credited Murphy with helping them
2. Bolt speaks well of Murphy leadership in presses
3 All players got their chances last 2 years to vote Murphy out but instead voted for him to lead them again

But here we are debating weather he is good enough as a leader.

Personally I have always love Murp since day 1 as a young couragous, skilful players who always give it all on field even when carry injury

Perhaps he is not the Voss, Selwoods, Hodge type of Captain but leadership come in all shapes and forms. The players and coaches are better judges of Murphy leadership than us from afar, I think.

Well said! Change for the sake of change is ridiculous. If we have a better option the coach and players will know it

Assuming Gibbs is staying. How could we trade for Hopper and keep pick 4?

I'm guessing he is worth a late first round pick, I'm just not sure how we get our hands on such a pick.

Hopefull Casboult compo ;)
I was also hoping we might get an end of first round priority pick we could have used but we're no chance now that we beat Hawthorn and are 14th on the ladder.
