Do you think Pickett may be able to fill that role at all?

Pickett has great hands in terms of picking up loose balls. To step up into the midfield, will need to increase his tank.
He has good pace and agility. However, from last weeks game needs to work on composure and working out what to do with he ball once in hand - he seems to dance around a bit too much without knowing what he'll do with the ball. I see a definite upside in Pickett.

Watching Jaeger last night, reminded me just how much we need one touch mids.
Players that aren't even considering taking possession of the ball, as that will come by course, but already surveying the situation as to where that ball will best serve going to.

Cripps & SPS are the only mids we have that have this ability and on the other end of the scale we have Kerridge who worries so much about just taking possession of the ball, that he has no scope nor time to work out what to do with the ball, once he has it in hand.
Fisher is also that smart one-touch mid, but I worry his size may restrict just how often he can start at the 'source'
Good pick up on Fisher, he is a one touch player, i myself don't think his size will be a problem. He's got a bit of go in him, we'll have to wait a year or two to find out.

Anybody think Lukas Webb is worth a look? Can't get a run at the Dogs and wants opportunity.

Don't mind the look of Webb, could certainly play Simmo's role while releasing Willo. Would also consider Dale.

Would not be that keen on Honeychurch, butchers the ball way too much for my liking

He's not going to get taller, but he will get stronger. That's what I meant about size.

The young man is a an absolute warrior with his attack for the ball and upon the man.
Can only get fitter and stronger and given he's determination, that will likely come about sooner than later.

I don't think I've seen another player throw himself around at training as hard as he does, although credit to Jack Silvagni here also....and Davey Ellard.

Agree on both points.

Loved the look of Webb in U18s and has seen some glimpses when he has played for the Dogs.

In the match aftermath last night, it was mentioned be was one looking for opportunities. Dogs can't ask for much given he hasn't been played much this year.

That's the tricky part about list depth. You want to have it run deep, but on the same hand, you may well be depriving some for opportunity.

That's why I'm concerned (not concerned, but you know) that someone like Macreadie could fall of the radar, if we keep Weitering in the back-line.
Jones & Marchbank seem grounded down back and if we persist with three talls inclusive of Weitering, it may mean lengthy VFL stints for Macreadie.
I don't think that will come about, but the point is and has been said before, "Play enough VFL games and you become a VFL player"

People may well say; "Just trade the surplus out" but that rarely nets a trade win.
List Management is also about list balance. It's not easy.

Nup, no thanks. One of those guys that I really, really want to punch in the face. ;) I would hate to see him playing for Carlton and still really, really want to punch him right in his stupid face.:D

Thanks for that violent insight.
What is it with people wanting to punch others in the face?
Say that towards a woman, even in the same jest and all hell will break loose, but towards a guy? Violence is violence.

I know, I know........it's only a joke. It's just one in very poor taste.

Cmon mate it was only said in jest. I apologise if you, or anyone finds it in poor taste.

Macreadie was recruited as a swingman too IIRC. Why can't we try him upfield, or even in a Tomlinson type role up the wings. Charlie could perform that role leaving Macreadie and Levi in the forward line.

I know Brissy. It's my problem because even the loose notion of imparting pain upon another, doesn't register.

I've just noticed it being said a lot across these boards in recent times. Anyway, I'm working on my issue. :)

All sorts of things can yet come about and if anyone can play that upfield role it's Weitering.

Beast of an athelete we just haven't seen the best of yet. Can't wait to see him playing more in the Reiwoldt mode.

All good mate. FWIW I abhor violence in all its forms, male or female. Probably should have added this disclaimer originally in my attempt at some lighthearted banter. Sorry again mate.:)

One reason why Boekhorst is getting games is Cripps, Ed and Marchbank are injured and Cuningham is not match fit enough.
Another, and why preferred to Buckley, Palmer, etc. might be to work out whether we should keep him or not, perhaps to see if he has any trade value.
FWIW, not best 22, perhaps a few others to delist fist before Boekhorst. One year contract with a couple of others in a similar boat.

There are a lot of players playing this weekend that won't be on AFL lists on 2018

It's not the size of the boat, it's the motion of the ocean

Yes.

He's one I mentioned last year along with Hrovat, Dale and Honeychurch.

Hrovat has since moved to the Roos (we were said to be reasonably keen also), Dale has semi-broken through this year, whilst Honeychurch and Webb remain very much on the periphery.

I doubt Dale would now leave but the latter two would probably be exploring their options. I don't think either will be stars but could prove to be good value if we're able to bring them in relatively cheaply.

And I reckon both would be very cheap given Hrovat cost the Roos 3/4 of **** all last year.

Absolutely we would, if they were available - as would 16 other clubs.

Both have had down years but they're both outstanding footballers and certainly young enough to turn things around.

Unless there's something seriously wrong at the Dogs they won't consider getting rid of either.

Not keen on Honeychurch...watched him a few times this year and unfortunately for him is quite prone to the odd shocker of a disposal a bit too often...dogs supporters very frustrated with him.

Also he's small in size. I wouldn't usually mind that much except we already have Murphy, SPS & Fisher as small mids. Don't want to go too small.

Plenty of talk on here about Murphy "semi - retiring into our forward line. Personally, I think he's still got plenty to offer on the ball but a wing would suit him better I think.
Am I the only bloke on here that thinks Murphy is a clanger king in our forward lines these days?

More realistically pick 3 - would that mean Cerra?

Doesn't seem to be much seperating Dow, Cerra & LDU in most write ups i've seen in terms of ratings.
The fact we already have a few smallish mids like Fisher, SPS and Murphy makes me inclined to pick the bigger, ball winning type player who also has nice skills like LDU or Dow.
