All we (SOS) can do is provide undifferentiated pluripotent stem cells to Bolton and let him do the rest.

Wouldn't pay anything more than pick 15.

He should be worth less than Marchbank.

If we could get him for our Cas compo, it may be worth doing, he would help with the contested stuff particularly around the stoppages, he just seem slightly limited in terms of what else he can do.

Nothing to do with Political Correctness.

Yes, there will be many who will enjoy the fight today also and look forward to some blood being spilled.
We excuse this to ourselves as just some primal instinct but it's only when you think about it.......I mean really think about it......that you realise that it's not such a great human trait, wishing to impart pain and damage upon another human being. Any being actually.

Have you thought about it?

Don't start telling me to "Go Vegan" now Harker!
Yeah I have thought about it before, and you're probably right, it's not such a great human trait. But it's not something that I am going to suppress because a bunch of left wing cardigan wearing hipsters tell me that I should feel the same way they do. Nor will I feel guilty for feeling some of the most basic human instincts.
I'm not going around belting people or pulling the wings off butterflies, but I do on occasion see a particularly annoying opposition player that I feel could do with a good punch in the face.
Surely there's someone out there that you've felt the same way about Harks? You don't need to feel bad about it, it's just human nature!

Unless they're all just reposting from somewhere else they read it on BigFooty or in the media, multiple posters from different clubs are now saying Hopper to Carlton, in addition to Anderson...great sign.

GWS posters are saying Hopper is definitely leaving.
The rumour has been hopper to cats and Toby Kung Fu Greene with him
Hopper apparently has been onto the cats for months

Have you though about going Vegan? :)

Got it in the bolded. No ifs or buts.
Yes, I have thought about it, but I'd despise myself if I ever did it and certainly so, if I did it for fun.

I know a good vegetarian place.......It's just down the road and........

One of them
I hear even Carlton isn't as buoyant on hopper as early in the season.
Now it might be a case of who pays what.. But you'd have to think if it's a race between Geelong and Carlton the player would go Geelong.

How reluctant are we to re sign Casboult? What money does he deserve?

I would hate to give up on a big key forward who can ruck as well. They are hard to find. Unless the powers that be are as certain as they can be that Harry comes on! Kreuzer had a great year but needs help, not more of a load. If we get rid of Gorringe and Phillips isn't available again, we need to pay Cas. I reckon 500K and 2 years is fair. Tyrone Prickery got more for a similar role. You could argue that Cas improved this year although he looked tired on the back end.

Interestingly Harry's brother spent time in the ruck against Lions yesterday.

To get Hopper (or Kelly though I think he will choose to say with the orange) one of Cas or Gibbs has to be traded, yeah? If Gibbs says he's happy to stay and no-one bites for Casboult - at least not at a fee that would give us decent compensation - than SOS would have to pull off something special to get Hopper anyway. That no second round draft pick has limited our options.

Next years second is enough

My wife is a vegetarian. "No meat Monday" is about as much as I can handle.
Thanks anyway

Although now that I think about it isn't next year's draft filled with gems. Would be so willing to give up our second pick?

If they accept a 2018 2nd for Hopper then we take that over an 18 year old who won't play until 2019.

By that time Hopper will be 22 and would have had a year of being with us

Probably one of the main reasons he's open to leaving and choosing us over Geelong (if that happens).

A player like him would want to start getting the opportunity to play in his best position and really make his stamp as an AFL player.

He may not get the role he desires at Geelong either with Dangerfield and Selwood leading the contested ball charge and the likes of Menegola and Duncan playing well...i reckon Hopper would like the idea of joining us so he can play in his preferred role and be a KEY part of our midfield moving forward and one of the main men, not just a bit part player he will be at GWS and Geelong.

I agree with this, but how exactly do you sell that?

Come to Carlton. We're much shitter than Geelong and you'd have much less midfield support than other teams....

Carlton: The Land of Midfield Opportunities? :)

Just a thought. If GWS don't make the grand final would it change the thoughts of the players rumoured to leave or not?And have they underachieved if they don't make GF?

I reckon this is something many people miss when talking about Hopper.

The kid is a genuine inside mid but the GWS midfield is stacked. He's had to spend plenty of time away from the midfield in his games at senior level and that's just not his go.

Put him on the inside and leave him there and I reckon he'll flourish. Has already shown some good signs playing in that role and with more experience he's only going to get better.

I'm not sold on Jacob developing into a superstar of the competition but I do very firmly believe he's got the game to become an excellent inside midfielder at AFL level.

My preference would be to chase the bonafide star in Kelly but as a fall-back option I'm very keen on Hopper and wouldn't hesitate to part with a pick in the 10-20 range or something of equivalent value in exchange for him.

Hopper and Cripps could be a sensational pairing for the next decade.

Agree.

I could see Hopper for us in 2018 injury free having a similar impact to what Jack Steele did this year.

Went from averaging 15 touches and 4 tackles a game in his first 2 years at GWS to around 23 touches and 8 tackles this year for St Kilda through a combination of maturing and more midfield time.

If you want to look at purely numbers, Josh Kelly had only averaged 17 touches a game up to the same stage of his career that Hopper is currently at.

Another thing to look at is he has never had more than 80% game time with the majority of games in the 60%s.

The amount of that which is actually spent playing midfield gets touched on, but is a valid point for someone who at this stage is a pure inside midfielder. I remember the Richmond game of 2015 when MM played Cripps half forward, and he barely touched it, won 1 clearance for the night, and was dropped the next week. By the end of the year he was one of the best young mids in the comp.

Will agree he has stagnated slightly this year, but that if anything that will work in our favour come trade time.

We have no idea how much this has to do with development, midfield time, injuries, or how much a decision he is facing can impact the form of a 20 year old.

It's hard to compare our second year players to Hopper, as only Cunners is a midfielder, but in comparison he has averaged just 12 touches a game from 11 games, and finished the year in the 2s in a side with no midfield, yet we are all (rightfully so) pleased with what he's produced......
