Always go with barass. I can't see it either though I'd like to see the financial terms and tenure first.

There's that and then there's what we'd have to give Brisbane.

There will be interest for Schache though.
Hipwood is performing better at this stage and then they have Ballenden coming in via academy cheaply this year.

Schache may well leave, with Brisbane being happy to let him go for the 'right' deal.

Kruezer would be yet another of a long line of quality players of ours at other clubs . How do you stop players leaving and your club becoming a destination club again ? Value them and not treat them as bargaining tools when they in your opinion reach their use by date . Seriously short sighted thinking here you have .

Sorry mate, but I fail to see how using any compo pick for Kruezer to draft a quality young player for the long term is " shortsighted ".

Yeah I forgot to mention what we'd have to give up, far too much I suspect.

Hipwood looks like a 10yr plus star ATM, really impresses me. Adding another gun forward via the academy could tip the scales.

Can't see us willing to give up enough. 2018 first and ??? Depends how keen we are I suppose.

I don't know. Schache is a beautiful kick, although that hasn't quite shown up in the Brisbane games I've seen, for now.

I do find him a little too straight forward, but must say I haven't seen anywhere near enough.
My view was formed on the back of limited viewing of him in a couple of TAC games in '15

I have just finished a lengthy phone-call with a long-time Melbourne-based friend who is also a mad Blues fan. He has been watching the reserves live a fair bit this year and made special mention of Liam Jones and how it appears he is being groomed to play in defence as a CHB. He has noticed Bolton having long chats with him about how to play the position plus pinch-hit in the ruck when the ball is at that end of the ground.

Whilst I have always been extremely sceptical about him as a forward (he will be delisted if he wants to remain a forward), this may be an interesting experiment to watch and I would even concede that it would be great if it did work out for him in defence.

My friend is totally convinced that Jones will emerge as a no-frills but highly effective gorilla-taming CHB. At 198cm & 98kg, he has the physical attributes to succeed in the role and given his inability to nail it as a key forward, this may be a win-win for both parties.

Same wavelength mate. Was watching him and Weitering closely as it looked like we might get one of them. Very pleased how that turned out.

Looked like a beautiful set shot, maybe he's just a confidence player. I still want Gresham, he was my favourite that year.

It looks that way and for all the giggles I had about the notion of Jones in the back-line and helping out in the ruck, it has been working.

That may change tomorrow but to dismiss what Jones has been doing because of pre-conceptions is foolish.

Gorringe is a decent stop gap to give us a goal a game and ruck relief, with McKay coming into the team and Charlie playing more midfield minutes.

I think Levi's fate is as tied to what we look to do with free agency, Charlie and SOS as much as it might be his own form.
If you are putting your eggs in the Gorringe basket than I fear you may be disappointed because he has not proven he is anywhere near Levi. Our future is not going to rest on whether we get pick 36 for Levi. He is worth more for us than that kind of pick

Imo unless it was an extremely good deal in favour of the club then Kruezer must stay. Kruezer is 28 and as ruckmen go is entering his prime coupled with that he becomes an extra midfielder when the ball hits the deck. He tackles hard and is a big presence in a midfield which is slowly being injected with youth. He helps to look after them. Continue talking your trade ideas but I think Matty must stay.

We don't need an exact duplicate of Levi, we just need a forward/ruck that offers something in the 22. Gorringe is technically sound and is yet to have a really good run at it in the VFL this season.

Pick 36? Are you planning on us making the finals?

There are 18 teams. 18 x 2 = 36. We might get pick 37 - 39 depending on academy picks.

With respect to the worth of Levi and Gorringe, we might have to agree to disagree on this one.

football is a physical game, you just can take too many young undersized players into a game or a season, you just can't enter a season without your quoter of senior, big physical bodies (enforcers if you like) (and lets face it, we are seeing a lot more of this from gibbs in recent time)

if your team is identified by opponents as physically weak they will target that. you will get ragdolled.

There is a lot of talk about all these teenagers carlton are playing, but i don't see teams targeting them physically! why?
Kreuzer
Levi
White
Rowe
Cripps
Gibbs

yes Levi and Kreuzer are high tiding this season and have trade / FA value but who are you going to replace this physical presence with to continue the young guys to develop in a competitive team that are not ragdolled?

Gorringe will never be that guy NEVER

we have three guys who can actually ruck right now in the list. might need to get some more if you are going to push these guys off the list!

I'd just like to say that the thought of Jones taking a kick-out scares the shit outta me.

Would be no reason to worry about that with Docherty, Byrne and Williamson down back.

You want a real rocket coming out of the back-line - Ciaran Sheehan is your man.

GWS can only match one bid in the first round if they finish top 4. Two if they finish top 8.

Not that it matters after all their quality kids have been stripped from their zone allocations. There's probably 4 bidding options at this point.

Keep Levi
Kruezer to go as a FA
SOS has already started trading our future picks TBF. We don't have a 2nd this year.
if we can get a first rounder out of kruezer i'll accept it. not sure he commands that amount of money though given his injury history and the general declining value of ruckmen.
