Was Matt Crouch dropped or injured in rounds 9 and 10 of last year?

He came back in round 11 after a couple weeks off, then went on to average 29.3 touches, 5.2 tackles, 3.8 marks and 103.6 SC pts

Am I crazy considering him at $500k?
MCrouch was hit around and targeted by Geelong players in Rnd8 and he was listed as "soreness" for those rounds 9 and 10.
He'll cop plenty of attention this year that's for sure, not confident he can work through it yet.

Could see him averaging 107+ as he gets more TOG as heis a ball magnet. But definitely crazy considering him IMO

Why has no one got David Swallow. Did I miss something? For 280k, I'm sure he can get back to a 100 average.
Is he a stepping stone or a keeper?

If I'm picking a mid I want 110+ avg if I can help it

People aren't confident he'll even average enough to be a good stepping stone to a premo
I see him averaging around 80/85, so that's just meh, thus why I'm not touching him

Fair enough. I currently have SPP, Barrett and Picket as my roomies in the mid. Who's another potential likely rookie who I could replace him with?

Atley/Parfitt/Miles

Cheap mid rookies are hard to come by at the moment, just need to wait for team announcements for a better idea

Back your gut though, if you think Swallow will do well, lock him in!

I just can't bring myself to start without Pendles. Even when he is hurt he scores better than anyone not named Ablett, Fyfe or Dangerfield. Massive risk not starting him.

Alright, so I don't think anyone is saying they're going to go the whole season without Pendles, when is the time you look to bring in your first premos? Let's say round 9 (I'm saying this before looking up the stats I'll state). So you wouldn't want Pendles to be the last midfielder you bring in, these are his averages in the first 9 rounds since 2011.

2011 - 134, high score of 162, low score of 94
2012 - 127, high score of 167, low score of 62
2013 - 126, high score of 161, low score of 96
2014 - 129, high score of 182, low score of 102
2015 - 114, high score of 158, low score of 81
2016 - 119, high score of 157, low score of 89

So you're backing against over 5 years of data if you don't pick him. Unless his achilles is cooked there's no reason not to pick him. He's only 29.

I feel sick not seeing him in my team, he's been in there for 10 straight years.

I just worry not seeing him at all in pre-season.
I've been burnt by other stars who haven't had a pre-season.

Most people who aren't picking Pendles are picking Kennedy, Hannebery, Treloar, Parker, Selwood etc. who are all very solid selections in their own right.

I'm not sure starting with or without Pendlebury is going to be a drastic supercoach winning or losing move, especially when they're going one of the guys I've outlined above instead.

Exactly. I currently have Pendles in, but if I find myself in need of $40k, Pendles -> Selwood is one of the first places I will look.

my understanding is that he did pre-season. just tweaked his achilles late in the piece and has been resting for the last week and a bit.

all the hard work is done by then and everyone is tapering for Rd1 anyway so i dont think it will make that much difference.

He's the only constant in SC. #1 scorer changes most years, #1 ruck changes every year, defenders and forwards are a lottery.
Pendles is always #2 scorer. I'd only be taking him out if he's a late out 10 minutes before his round one match.

I currently have both Dangerwood and Trendlebury, good or bad??

Nothing wrong with it at all.
Last year I had Dangerwood, Trendlebury and Parkerbery. Worked out pretty well.
Had Simpson + Docherty in the backline too.
Had Lids and Dusty in the forward line which didn't work out but then had Wells and Boomer there which worked out fine.

True, Achillies can be very bad though (Wells and Deledio) - despite his claim it's a 2/10.

He is Pendlebury though...

As long as the players are good enough it doesn't matter what team they come from. Last year I had Kennedy, Hannebery, Parker and Mitchell for the last 8 or so rounds. Made Sydney a whole lot of fun to watch.

Are taggers still a danger (sorry if this has been covered over past pages)?

Tmitch was protected by Sydney's midfield, now as #1 will he get more attention.
Do teams really tag any more, or will they focus more on outside players at Hawks?

Thinking 1 of Bont or Mitchell will go from my team to make room for Pendles.
