JAMES Hird has been taken to hospital after suffering a major health scare.

The Herald Sun understands Hird was treated at Cabrini Hospital after an arriving in an ambulance.

Hird’s condition is unknown, but it is believed he left the Malvern hospital earlier today and is still receiving care elsewhere.

Cabrini Health has refused to confirm whether the controversial former Essendon coach was treated due to patient confidentiality.

“We are unable to provide information on any individual patient. The safety, wellbeing and privacy of all our patients is of utmost importance at Cabrini,” hospital spokeswoman Christine Elmer said.

Cabrini Private Hospital specialises in heart procedures mainly, my elderly mother recently had her double bypass performed there.

Daniel Chick has started posting from page 45 in a thread on the Eagles board to clarify some of the stories which have been written about him in recent years. Definitely worth a read for anyone interested in the Eagles 06 story.

The Age is reporting it as an OD. Although who knows on what, or why.
Yes, being reported as an intentional poisoning overdose.

I expect this may be because the reality of the Essendon saga has finally hit home.

Hopefully he can find some peace, admit his wrongs & get on with a healthy life.

Had a bit of a read of that thread. He admits he has done some wrong, and wants to get better. Which is good and he deserves support. is also a great insight as to how physical our game is and the pain it causes latter of in life.

Just on the WCE of that era, I know of an ex Centrals player who got to go to the aftermatch players celebration after 2006. He said it was the wildest night of his life and everything (Drugs, Booze, Woman) was available. This was told to me only a month after that night, well before the troubles of the players of that era have surfaced.

Those guys took it to the extreme, but lets not kid ourselves that such things don't happen at every AFL club. Young blokes who want to party, but can't drink too much booze due to the need to stay fit and the need to train the next day. There are other highs that accommodate that.

The stat in itself is irrelevant. It's a signal of intent because it shows the sides willingness and ability to keep the ball moving forward.

And we lost 50m per game across the board between 2014 and 2015,
so it's not like I'm saying we need to do something we haven't done before. Ebert and Krakouer dropped close to 100m gained this year alone..
Because 2014 was a fluke.
2015 /16 is your norm.

Kind of worrying with what he's saying about the WC medicos. Probably makes you appreciate what the club did for Sam Shaw even more knowing there are clubs out there who would just cut a player off in the past.

Went and checked it out as well. Damn hard to read, but it seems that might be partly explained from his injuries. It seems like he has been on quite the spiritual journey throughout the whole process as well. Seems to be at ease with the situation.

Good to hear... unlike his teammate cousins, who is in all sorts of bother.

Janus is at it again, he reckons if they can get an improvement of 50 metres per game across the 22 players they will have 9 players inside the top 100 for metres gained and run the ball better than us.

I'm sure getting that improvement will be easy, all clubs should click their fingers and do it.

We call out our crazies in here, they seem to be feted over there.

Won't that ruin footy?

I reckon we should be aiming for 60m per player improvement. 50 to match port, 10 % of that on top to beat them, and a further 5 metres because **** you

That's what I always thought but I moved this year to a house with satellite and have all the channels so I'm not sure what the go is. I have IQ3 so maybe that's the difference.
I have foxtel via satellite - IQ 1 and 2 only. HD footy only on IQ2. Also get free to air. 7,9,10, ABC + , SBS

There's also apparently some personal stuff (he and wife split) that may also have contributed. Bloody tragic situation, but the ones I feel for are the kids. He needs to focus more on them.

The sad thing is that if he had just fallen on his own sword back in 2013 and admitted responsibility, it most probably would have all blown over now and he would have regained some credibility for manning up and taking one for the club.

He risked everything (money/reputation) to try and get out of it on a technicality and lost. He now needs to make peace with his actions and move on and find something new because he'll never be involved in football ever again.

" Pride cometh before a fall ".

Charlie Manson goes to hospital people cheer and post messages hoping he dies painfully, St James goes to hospital and everybody starts eulogizing him. As great a player he was he has absolutely ruined one club and potentially ruined a lot of lives in the process. Yet people still defend him.

If that was Roo I would wipe him.
