So we want Hawthorn to knock Collingwood off tomorrow? Which would mean they can't really get ahead of us even if they beat us next week?
I think this is a 45/55 game - if Day was in I would have tipped Hawks

It's far more likely than the AFL making sure that Geelong know that they will need to win by 236pts as soon as our game is over.
I don’t necessarily believe that either, but I don’t think getting home would have any impact.

On the Geelong game and our game scheduling. It's not that deep.

The most likely scenario is it was fixtured this way to allow us ample time to make it to the airport to fly back that evening. Heck, we probably even requested that.

A 4:15pm Melbourne game is acheivable still but makes it touch and go.

The long shot hypothetical that they want Geelong to know how much % they need when they may not even be on equal points as us is classic persecution complex VFL tin foil hat stuff. It's not that deep.
My guess - they didn’t do it to shaft us, or to give the Cats a leg up.

They did it to increase viewer interest in the Cats game, which would otherwise be a boring blowout.

It’s about ratings, eyeballs, $$.

I can't believe they didn't put Gold Coast on Thursday night. They'd rather give them a four-day break leading into the finals? I know there's a pre-finals bye, but that won't help them much if they get an injury. The Suns supporters would be furious, if they had any.

Both the Essendon vs Carlton and the Port vs Gold Coast games are on Foxtel/Kayo and not free to air (C7). So Foxtel would not want to be broadcasting both games even if only an hour apart.

C7 have the Bulldogs vs Freo and Brisbane vs Hawks on Sunday.

Lets just win the games we need to win - we are in the box seat, our destiny is in our own hands.

Other teams are relying upon us to **** it up. Lets make sure we don’t.

Which makes him a perfect candidate to be Freo's CEO and replace Bell...... Why would you want to employ a Freo nuffie, lives and breathes Freo based in WA but he's Sydney 's CEO now??

It is so weird seeing him in red and white with a Swans logo.
He's replacing former Geelong captain, Tom Harley, as CEO. So clearly they don't care if their CEO is a "Sydney" person.

I cant wait to see Hardwicks presser now that the round 24 fixture has come out
Finding out what it's like to be an interstate team

Its not too bad. Its a tough spot because they are playing finals..well should be so the AFL is trying to give them enough time. If anything this Wednesday game was probably done in consultation with both Essendon and Gold Coast and primarily Gold Coast because of the finals being impacted. So it really is the best of a bad situation.

Sydney playing 4-D chess

Will get Pav's sons & daughters straight into their academy

Any idea what's happened to Harley? Has been talk of him going to the AFL for quite a while

He was appointed Chief Operating Officer in June. Basically 2IC.

So top of the ladder with the best percentage and no loss over 19 points in 20 games is not good enough to be considered a premiership threat?

So, by your logic, no team is a premiership threat? Because I could poke holes in every top 9 team bigger than that.

No team is perfect, but one of them has to win it.
We’re 0, 0.5 and 1 game ahead of 2nd 3rd and 4th.

My logic is as good as we have been, we haven’t been that much better than the rest of the top 4, who also have each won a flag in the last 3 years. Subconsciously they’re waiting for September.

They know what the next level looks like. We don’t. We’ll have to lift to match them.

I’ve always had this strange thought that you have to lose a GF before you know how to win one, and yeh I know teams have won it on their first attempt

He clearly wants to get into the business side of running an AFL club. No law says you have to go to the club you support.

Sure, but I also think recent history shows that the teams that come home with a wet sail win flags, not teams that are 'picking their spots'.

And our form on the stretch does stand out. We've not just won, we've claimed scalps.

Gee you must be a fun bloke to be around

Yeah. It’s a well worn footy cliche, but true more often than not.

I said it before, I think we’re like hawthorn of last year. Though likely to finish top 4, maybe top 2, which hopefully sees us progress further.
