Is the game televised/streamed live? Ie how can I watch it from the cheap seats here in Australia city?
 
Strong team named for both sides. Perfect opening test against similar strength opposition.

Get Tayla and Josh to do some promotion work around Brissy, get the photographers there ..shopping centres etc.

..and keep nagging the AFL about more promotion via FTA tv coverage. The fact that our girls games have not been promoted and shown up there is a bloody disgrace..

I realise we are doing better than in the past, but we have to keep at it, niggle away and eventually we will be top dog...er Lion;)

Notable seniors missing - Harwood, Christensen, D Beams, Bell, Paparone, McStay, Gardiner and Hipwood.
 
Hopefully the surface at Broadbeach's Kombumerri Park is OK. Any info anyone can share on that? Always worry about injuries in these games, especially at local grounds.
 
Going to be great to see cluggers play for the first time in Lions colours.

Strong squad named for the weekend subject to the fact that 3 will be omitted. DBeams, Bundy, McStay and Bell all on the comeback trail from injury. Not sure on the injury status of Harwood/Paparone but I'm not convinced they are best 22 anyway.

I'm a little surprised Cox, Lyons and Grewar haven't been given a run but you can't play everyone.

Don't think anyone said they were unexpected. They do tend to hit in the exact timeframe that we are playing though which is rather annoying. Would probably be smarter to schedule the match around 1pm, however, even if the AFL did that it might just happen to rain all day anyway and therefore the AFL probably doesn't bother taking those things into account and fair enough too.

No particular reason. As I went on to say in that post Fagan did mention he wanted to field a strong side so I guess it shouldn't come as a surprise. I am just used to seeing the better, more mature players rested for the opening pre season match although I guess it varies year to year. In 2015 we fielded a pretty strong side in the entirety of the NAB Challenge from memory.

Pretty good surface at Broadbeach I believe, a fair bit of money has been spent on improvements there in recent times.

No, it wouldn't be smarter to arrange a footy match at the hottest part of a Qld summer's day. Rain happens during the regular season, high heat & humidity usually don't.
