Draft Review 2017 - Revisit the 2017 AFL draft

BZT wouldn't even be a top 4 KPD from this draft. I would have him behind Taylor, Balta, Petty, McCartin. . He's similar to Payne, Murphy and Miller who have taken a while to get to AFL level but are there now. Ballard I don't see as a KPD or else he would be behind him too.
I'd agree with that, but that wasn't the point I was making. The point I was making was that last year he showed himself to be AFL standard in the second half of the year

Have people not watched Liam Ryan over the past 1.5 years? Completely inconsistent.

Liam has a very good highlights reel, but at times he looks very disinterested on the field.

Needs to be re-focused every now and then. Consistency is a problem, as his best is scintilating, but takes his mind off the ball at crucial times.

I love this thread for the post on the first page celebrating the arrival of Billy Hartung to North!

Not a bad draft. In fact an extremely deep draft. If you could go back in time, how would you place the order now? Who do you think I've been harsh on? Who do you think I've been too generous on. Create your own list (top 10, 20, 30 or 40)

Not going to do a complete top 10, but you have done Wil Powell very dirty here.

Not a bad effort.
The only ones Id have significantly different is Cam Rayner, I still think he is a very good player.
I also think with TDK and to a lesser extent Balta and Naughton people are factoring potential and further improvement, Im not sure how much more improvement there will with these guys, there will be some, but they are now mid-20's

Nobody is taking Powell before anyone in that top 12. Great player though
that is probably fair. Im not as big on Liam Ryan or Bailey Fritsch as most and would have them around the 10 to 12 mark and I'd have Powell around there as well.

Ryan hasn’t lived up to the hype since his AA year but to be fair, any small would struggle in that set up. Fritsch is an elite forward and his goal kicking record speaks for itself

Im in a minority here, but the reason I have Fritsch below others is that he is heavily reliant on those around him, I suspect if he was at a middle of the road club or Melbourne become that Fritsch would struggle more than most.

Oscar Allen averaging 2.6 goals per game in a team on the bottom of the ladder is picked in the first half a dozen players easily.

Brayshaw going backwards at an alarming rate this season, which is very disappointing.

LDU would be number 1 but he is injury struck again (unfortunately)

Ainsworth, Fogarty, Spargo, Rayner, Allen, Higgins, are all better players than Jiath, who is way too high on your list imo.

Miers is leading the league for goal assists and is top 10 for score involvements. It was the same story in the second half of last year when he went from being a solid contributor to a gun once he finally got a clean run with injuries. He's been a lock in a top 4 team since his second season.

I get that he is a weird looking player but he is hideously underrated.

Do you realise you’re talking about Brayden Ainsworth and not Ben Ainsworth, who was pick 4 in 2016?

Congrats.

Your take on Fritsch is one of the worst I've seen in 20 years on Bigfooty. :thumbsupemoji:
