I'm fairly sure Aliir just hasn't shown enough discipline for Longmire's liking, which is why Melican and Marsh have gone past him. I doubt the Swans would be looking to move him on with Grundy being pretty close to retirement.

Also lol at "the eagles need more youth so they should recruit toumpas". Really?
More bikies in wa

Why Toumpas was a top 10 pick:D
Sorry couldn't say that with a straight face

iirc that was the player most people on our board wanted at pick 8 (he was also a Lions fan) but the dirty dealings between GWS, GC and Melbourne and the lack of bids on Viney cost us...probs worked out to be fair

We weren't going to go for him ever

Too many family influences here

Is it just my perception or is every player that goes into the draft a Lions fan?

haha there haven't been many from my memory only ones ive heard of are toumpas, cutler, clayton oliver

thought there would have been more over the in the past decade due to the 3peat

Petrevski-Seton. Probably why he gifted us a couple of 50s on the weekend.

Noticed our boy CHARLIE CAMERON has been out of form lately wonder what his value is now, originally i was think pick 16-25 now seems more like maybe 20-35

I'm usually positive about him, cos his defensive pressure is a large part of what he brings.

But he was poor in the half I saw before our game missed a lot of tackles. But he hurt his wrist recently and some word he's not 100% fit.

We dont need another tall defender, and certainly not an average one.

Jansen, Harwood, Beams, Hanley, Freeman, William will head the delistings this year.

if the plan was to delist Hanley, it would have been done last year after two years on the long term injury list. id say we would appeal to the afl to gvie us a chance to put him on the list for another year given the years lost to inury

william fills us a need for us given the one paced nature of our team, but i guess fagan wants players with better disposal so maybe his time is up?

clayton would be on the list of delistings ahead of Harwood

Would add Close to that list he's not worth continuing with he's not AFL standard Skinner showed more than him today in he's first AFL match
Funny you say that. Yesterday's game actually made me think the opposite.

Thought he led well, showed good clean hands at ground level and that he'd be a handy depth KPF to sign on a new two year deal.

He didn't kick any but it looked to me that Fagan had him almost playing on the wing to provide that link up role from half back to half forward. Thought he went alright at it.

If we can manage to keep Close as depth I'm all for it.

Right now I'd be delisting: Clayton, Jansen, Beams, Freeman.

Harwood and Close offer afl clubs something so both would get a second change and likely traded to their club of choice assuming their mgmt broker a deal.

I get the feeling Close will go but get the feeling Harwood will stay. His forward pressure role has a lot of potential short term.

I dunno that many of our fringe players will get a go at another club. Even someone like Green, who had been a fairly regular senior performer until his last year with us, was only picked up on a one year contract as a delisted free agent. It isn't as though Close has had a breakthrough game that would allow a recruiter to see what he's capable of. In the main, his best performances have been solid rather than spectacular.

Combine all that with the likelihood that we'll see a few tall forwards on the market this year and I think Close might end up outside the AFL system.

It'll be interesting. I think Close has showna little and is currently held out of the team by Schache and Hipwood which is no shame. Might get a 1 year deal max but reckon he'd get picked up nonetheless.

I'm not opposed to keeping him. If we can get to 5 list changes without delisting him, then I think it would be a good call to keep him around.

Part of the equation is what the list looks like without him. We'd still have McStay, Walker and probably Ballenden as support. That feels a bit skinny, to be honest, particularly as the first two are also important in the defensive group and the latter isn't even on an AFL list yet.

Yeah for sure. It wouldn't surprise me if we table a 1 year offer to him and he's looking for 2+ elsewhere.
