For me the largest target should be Steven May.

Why hasn't he re-signed yet? Could just be his agent waiting until after the new AFLPA agreement but it still seems strange to me. Would be a huge get for us; Harris gets another leader and physical presence down back to take pressure off him, we have a genuine strong defender to take the most dangerous forward and play McStay on the lesser forward which suits him far more imo and allows him to use those rebounding instincts more liberally.

De-list the clutter early and get him as a FA on a contract heavily loaded in 2018 and use the 2/3 early picks we have on gun midfielders and take Ballenden wherever we have to.

A good player but I suspect another bloke that will head for the bright lights of Melbourne.
No doubt his preference but he is the type of player i would seek. We need a bit of grunt with speed out of the centre. I actually have no problem losing Schache. We need to turn the money and possible pick we would spend on keeping him into quality midfield and small forward options.

Steven May and JJ would be an awesome off season.

I might be alone but I don't really want JJ. He's no doubt a talented player and we need some quick and skilled ball users coming off HB but he'd just cost too much imo. If he was a FA maybe yeah but he's not and really seems more like that icing on the cake player. I reckon his output would plummet here and we'd all scrutinise him week to week based on the no doubt exorbitant salary we'd have to pay him to get him up north. I'd much rather keep all our picks and use them on ball winners. If we could manufacture a reasonable trade for Jacob Hopper I'd certainly be happy but don't think with our list profile we can be trading early first round picks for HBFs.

Spot on, Fagan mentioned in his presser last night that we need a classy small forward or 2 that can harass and slot the odd goal and also mentioned midfield depth.

No doubt what we will be looking for in the trade/FA/draft periods this off season.

Read into this what you will , I doubt it myself , ran into a fella I hadn't seen in a few years as he moved to Melbourne the other night , he told me the Hawks were going to have a Clear out next season and Cyril could be heading north !

Would fall over if it had any legs

Yep, he seems like that 'last piece to the puzzle' type player.

For sure. We have a foundation to build before we start decorating.

I think top end midfield talent in the under 25 range is what we really need. The small forward position also needs to be addressed but can be done via draft IMO. Defenders are also needed. Small defenders and tall defenders that are mature and can lead. Tough gig for Harris Andrews trying to run the show down back.

Highly doubt your source, Cyril is contracted to the end of 2020. He would be a fantastic get though if he came as cheap as Sam Mitchell went to the Eagles, he'll be 28 next year so still a good 3-4 years or so left in the game, would certainly rather him than the likes of Bewick/Bell/Harwood/C.Beams.

The only thing that would give this sort of move any credence would be Fagan being here and he did mention Cyril as an example when commenting on our need for his type of player.

Harris no doubt needs support. In an ideal world Jase would still be with here but fate cruelled us. Unfortunately it doesn't seem like Frost or Walker will be the stop gap we need, although perhaps Walker will grow in the role with time.

Not particularly optimistic in that regard though.

Wouldn't be surprised if we are already into him. He doesn't have to relocate and would most likely get a pay rise.

Plus he already has a friend here in Martin☺

Would be irresponsible of us not to be already inquiring. He's just what we need to stabilise us whilst the young mids learn (and the gun mids are injured). I was just under the impression that he was a GC man through and through. Would be spectacular for us if we could jump them on contract offering though.

And Rocky. The thug has pummelled our boys more than a few times but he's no doubt one of those players that everyone hates except for those supporting his team.

He's a weapon in the right setup, but what we really need is someone who can organise our back 6. Like Heath Shaw, but not Heath Shaw because he'd probably do a Campbell Brown if he played for us at the moment.

We couldn't say no, but **** I hate that guy.

Don't really mind him tbh. Just plays his footy hard and on the edge. Plus he got his fare whack

No doubt has a hard edge. My opinion of him is hurt that two of our guns have been on the end of those efforts.

I hated Robbo before he pulled on the Maroon, Blue and Gold. May is no doubt a campaigner but he's just what our team needs.
