Weekend Wrap and "Liked, Learned, Hated" right here -- How did tipping go?
I honestly just cant see this being driven by the club in any way.Maybe it's driven by another club making us a big offer for him.

I don't know whether Josh would be part of it, but I have this gut feeling that Noble, Fagan and Ambrogio could spring a huge unexpected surprise this trade period either in or out. They've had a full season to have a look at our list up close.Noble is a very smart operator... so wouldn't surprise me if this is all part of his plan. Somehow![]()
If Josh and the Lions colluded - sign a contract and we still trade you but get a better deal. Are there any rules against this?
I wouldn't think it would be viewed the same.I was going to say there are no rules against it, but on second thoughts it'd probably be viewed as a salary cap violation similar to Tippett's option to get traded to a club of his choice for a second rounder.
I wouldn't think it would be viewed the same.
Along with Dangerwood?Dustin Martin comin to brissy
Biggest coup of the season, dangerwood Martin for josh shache and Matt eaglesAlong with Dangerwood?
Was the main issue with Tippetts the pre set outcome of a 2nd round pick? Why not?
The problem with Tippett's clause and anything similar is that they can't be converted to a monetary equivalent so can't be accounted for by the salary cap. That's why it was regarded as a salary cap violation. How would giving an indication that we will agree to trade a player in order to entice him to sign a contract be viewed differently?
DN: so Schache how about you sign this 2 year deal so the media leave you alone, you can concentrate on your footy, come the end of the year if you want to leave- we will do everything we can to facilitate a fair and reasonable trade.
Schache: Ok
No, it was that it can't be converted to a monetary equivalent so can't be accounted for by the salary cap.Was the main issue with Tippetts the pre set outcome of a 2nd round pick?
I'll get in on the conspiracy theory train also. I noticed after a big goal last week near the goal square, everyone around the goal scorer (who I forget) swarmed him to celebrate, but Schache who was all of 5 metres away didn't seem overly keen to join in or celebrate in any way.Seemed odd at the time and continued my thoughts that he's still not entrenched within that team bond.Well I though Schache looked a bit disinterested last Saturday night and I got the vibe that he's on the outer with the rest of the team. Just something about the body language at the quarter breaks.
Wouldn't rule out the possibility that an "agreement" has been reached , especially with the jungle drums beating again.
Waldron said after schacke resigned it won't stop him being tradedBrian Waldron (aka Northern Spy & ex dodgy Storm chief) was the first to bring up the possibility of Schache being back on the table in mid July.
As unlikely as it is to happen and as much of a ***** Waldron is, he doesn't have a bad record. Just looked back and he called Gibbs last year before it happened. The Cameron rumour to us months ago, Barker to Suns earlier this year (which admittedly hasn't happened yet) etc etc.
But yeah surely not...
No thanksAby interest in Zaharakis? Still hasn't signed and has family in Brisbane.
Agree. Not a bad player, but it's not the kind of player we need at this stage of our rebuild. For mine you either want an experienced champion with a year or 2 left like a McVeigh or Burgoyne or you trade for a young, talented potential gun that has a couple/few years under their belt at AFL level. We don't need more middle of the road players like Zaharakis. No thanks
That doesn't make sense. No, it was that it can't be converted to a monetary equivalent so can't be accounted for by the salary cap.
I agree. I don't think there is anything against it. I highly doubt anything would have been written into the actual contract between the two parties involved unlike the Tippett saga. That doesn't make sense.
Surely other contracted players have been traded for draft pick/s before. As long as a team can fit the contract under the salary cap, surely what the two teams agree to as a fair trade is between the two teams.
The fact that it started with Waldron gives me pause, as well as the fact that he said it barely a month after Schache had re-signed and before he had returned to the Seniors.
It would be one of the most bizarre backflips in recent times - particularly given that the club appears to be finally heading in the right direction.
I haven't had a chance to listen to what Brett Andersen said yet - does anyone have a link?
More interestingly there is no discussion about Nick Robertson in that piece. Probably a sign of how under the radar he is outside of a couple of high-profile incidents. Hope we can keep him.
