Been thinking and as much as I'd like Charlie this year if Adelaide play even remotely hardball I'd pass.

I initially felt that Charlie was worth that late first round pick but am feeling less so. With what we have to trade this year I'd rather we kept our first and traded our Port picks and our 2nd rounder for the earliest first rounder we can conjure along with a 3rd rounder for example 13 and 18 to Pies for 6 and 36 or Freo for 5 and 40 if possible.

Would in all likelihood give us two picks in the top 8 and ensure we get Ballenden with points. As much as we need speed and tackling pressure I think I'd be willing to pass on Charlie for two top 10 draftees and Ballenden.

Strong rumours continue to come about Schache being traded at the end of season 2017. If true.... that will make headlines throughout afl ranks for a few weeks. Augggh, here we go again.

Rumors from inside the club or out?

Garbage. He litetally re-signed a 2yr deal a few months ago.

Would much prefer to keep him but I feel incredibly more comfortable about trading a contracted Schache than an uncontracted one.

Look it isn't beyond the realms of possibility that we do it at the end of 2018 to capitalise. But I find it a bridge to far to believe we'd do it so soon after he re-signed.

I'm starting to wonder if there is something to the theories of "Josh, the only way to take the pressure and scrutiny off yourself is to sign a contract. We can still trade you at seasons end if you want but the current situation is bad for all of us."

No inside word, but there is a lot of smoke. I agree if it happens it is an unusual and almost unprecedented situation, but on the flipside of that, it would be a particularly odd thing for a few people in the media to fixate on if they didn't think there was something to it.

Could be why Josh seems a little "off" and has gone back to the NEAFL..

..either it's true and the club knows it, or he just can't settle with all the speculation still going around.

Or he's just a developing KPP prospect still in his 2nd season who needs time in the reserves?

The kid is hardly a lock for the long-term future. But I think we're all jumping at shadows here, which is understandable given the last 5 years.

I will say this. If say a top 8 pick was up for grabs for Schache, and given the depth we have in that area and likely key pillars of Ballenden and Hipwood with Walker, Hammer and possibly Close as supporting cast it may be worth it. Especially if it will be best for Schache and the club. I get the feeling Schache is dealing with a lot of stress and as a young kid doesn't have the character to handle it as well as others. There is nothing wrong with that, he's a kid after all, but if we feel he is surplus then if we cash in and grab an elite Mid it may suit our list better.

St Kilda and Carlton desperate for a key and Richmond would also be interested.

Haven't the saints got 7 and 8?

What's he worth? Could we still get both of richmonds first round picks? If he was uncontracted I think we'd only get one.

Understand the other two but St Kilda? I know reiwoldt is retiring but they've got Bruce, Mccartin and membrey still up there and Carlisle if necessary as well as Josh Battle who finishes school at the end of the year. Look agree they're not super flush, but i wouldn't say they're desperate.

Trouble is both of the tigers picks are late first round. I would rather an early 1st pick and a 2nd round pick instead personally

If he is genuinely homesick that is not going to go away. The club might tell Josh we will get you back to Melbourne but you won't be picking which club, you will go to the highest bidder. Could turn out to be genius esp if Ballenden works out.

St Kilda is a funny case.

They dropped Bruce during the year so I don't know that they're 100% sold on him. He's got a history of having a poor work ethic and I wonder if that's playing up now.

McCartin has serious concussion issues and I gather St Kilda isn't particular sold on him either.

Membrey isn't a KPF.

Carlisle isn't a long term solution.

Who knows what Battle will be?

They've got a lot of options but I'd rank Schache at least second on that list after Bruce.

Haven't been on a lot lately, so may have missed a bit, but where are the rumours being reported?

I remember one msm/twitter last week, but where are the rumours coming from.

You do appear to have good inside info, are the rumours you're referring to coming from the club?

I understand what you're saying I don't doubt they've probably got a need just not sure if they're desperate. They're in a really weird place list wise as well. Everyone expects them to be in finals contention next year but with voldt and probably montagna out will they be? I'm not sure. They probably think their "window" is starting to open and may look for someone more proven (who that would be i have no idea). Personally if I were them i'd look at schache as i think they're still a few years away from contending and he would be the right fit age wise by then. Are they one of the parties interested in Kelly? that probably rules them out if so. I don't see them parting with two first round picks, there would have to be something going back the other way for them to do it i reckon. I'd be more inclined to angle for their first next year, they'll be backing themselves to finish higher but i'm not so bullish on them. I'd like to keep Schache, i think he's going to be a very good player in a few years, but if they were offering their highest pick (pick 7) this year and their first for next year with Schache and say our second rounder this year going back, then I would consider it.

I think that'd be right on the money if he went to the saints.

Our forwardline has been functioning incredibly well without any real stars. Losing shache I think is a coverable loss.

With hip wood and walker pretty much locks for the next 5 years and the club rating hammer extremely highly I think we're pretty set with a nice multi dimensional forwardline. Also all 3 of these blokes are able to play forward or back.

Add skinner, mcstay and harris who are all capable of both and I really like that mix.

Ballenden looks pretty good too wouldn't be mad at all if he left however from my understanding he won't be leaving.
