lol you should try read what I said and the context too if you can try. I was calling out the crows supporter for thinking harwood, taylor and a third rounder for Cameron was a bad deal for Adelaide. its a cracking deal for Adelaide and a terrible deal for us as lewis is becoming a good contributor (gun goal kickingmidfielder is a bit far-fetched yet)

also don't know where the crows first pick came into this

You've misinterpreted my post. Was implying that even if the Crows threw in their first pick it would still be a bad deal for us. IE Taylor > Cameron + first pick

wouldn't we be better off just keeping rocky then? otherwise its swapping rocky for zaharakis which really isn't an ideal trade, taking a stepbackwards if anything

Depends on how you rate them. I think some speed through the middle would be great.

Very stupid if you think we are trading Taylor. If Cameron wants to come great pick 18 for Cameron and a late crows pick is fair. If zaha wants to come let's be honest we won't be saying no. Him coming wouldn't effect anyone but drop Allison or Robertson out and that doesn't bother me. By the way Rockliff 100% going no where!

Would rather keep Rocky than add Zaharakis, but he'd be a good pickup if we can get him for free. Takes a lot of pressure off our young developing players.

Squizzy's going nowhere.

How do you know that?

Certainly fills a need short term and wouldn't cost anything other than cap space. Exactly the same age as Beams and Rocky though, he's not the ideal age but that doesn't mean it's not worth considering.

But realistically... Brisbane? Why would he bother
but if the midfield is beams/rockliff/zaharakis how do berry, clugga, mathieson, this years pick(s) get to develop enough. That would be my concern still.
After sitting at the G and watching us again lose important balls around the contest and the outside McClugage having little impact, Mathieson tallying 6 Kicks, it's obvious we need senior help to assist Beams onball. Rocky is struggling and probably signing elsewhere. Zaharakis is a highly skilled player and high character club person who would be great for Brissy. I think it's on the cards if Essendon don't offer him a good deal. I'd give him 3 years for sure.

100% agree that he'd be a great help for us but I think it's too optimistic to think he'd consider coming. Recent history suggests good players take the possibility of success over money, especially towards the end of their career. He may well leave Essendon but surely he won't come to Brisbane.

Matho had the most clearances for us (7) and the second most contested possessions (12).

One thing that I've been hoping for a while is a change in the ruck and am thinking we could only improve if we traded for a couple of ruckman currently not getting an opportunity. Tom Nicholls out of contract at Gold Coast and Marc Pittonet stuck in the Vfl for the Hawks. Martin struggled again in the ruck today. He is a trier and has a big heart but regularly is beaten. Oh and Josh Walker shouldn't be forced to play ruck. Pederson slaughtered him and went forward and burnt him on a few occasions. Josh is a key fwd, let Him just concentrate on that.

Six kicks was my point, he is not damaging and whilst it's important to have in and under players distributing by hand, it's the field kicking which hurts opposition the most. Matho is improving that's for sure but he's nowhere near a zaharakis who could seriously help us in the middle and provide some better decision making to a young group.

Martin was great today, had a lot of hitouts to advantage. Reckon he beat Gawn imo

Would take David Zaharakis in a heartbeat, RFA would only be a list spot and salary cap space.

We still have 7 players OOC (not including rookies) at the end of this year, Zaharakis would be better value on our list than a few of them ie. C.Beams, Harwood, Freeman, Jansen. I still think Close, Clayton and obviously Rocky are worth persevering with.

As far as cap space goes we should have plenty ATM.

We lost the hit outs by double digits and whilst he got a few nice ones away he put it straight down The throat of Melb mids a few times for easy clearances. Steph certainly did help our momentum comeback in the ruck for about 10 mins in the last qtr. I'm more thinking about are ruck situation re: the course of the season and looking to the future. I thought he did ok today but didn't get on top of Gawn overall who tired a bit as has happened with him over the last few weeks since coming off the long layoff.

Hitouts mean jack shit. He had a lot of hitouts to advantage which are more important. Also he negated Gawn who has been in AA form this year. So l reckon he was on top of Gawn. He was one of the reasons we were doing so well in clearances. This season he hasnt been great but i doubt we are going to trade in a seasoned ruck

He was much better in the second half, needs to show that sort of intensity more often.

Gawn having more hitouts means nothing, he does that every week.

Gawn had 38 hit outs today and was out of gas, what do you mean he has been in All Australian form, he's missed the majority of the year with injury. Martin did ok, but is just an honest trier in the ruck. About 30y.o. And still is a poor field kick and doesn't take a huge amount of marks. It's a position at the club which I'm sure we will address this off season in some way.

once again Hitouts mean nothing. Look at the hitouts to advantage. Yep, believe he is second to Ryder. Been out with injury but for a lot of games, he gives it straight to his teammates throats. You are underrating Martin here. I wouldn't hold your breath with something happening in the ruck situation to replace him if l were you

Without checking the stats, it feels like Stef has been taking a few more marks in the last month than earlier in the year. He needs to give off the quick handball though, as he has a knack for kicking it to the opposition. I don't think we need to be looking at bringing in any rucks this off-season. We have more pressing issues such as our midfield and small forwards.

Agree with you about Zaharakis, especially as we wouldn't have to give anything up. Also think Savage would be a good get, probably more so than Charlie Cameron. I was pretty impressed with the Giants midfield in the twos yesterday. Matthew Kennedy was super impressive. I don't know if he or Hopper are getable, but they might be eventually, especially if Kelly stays at GWS. They have so much talent, with Setterfield and Taranto also in the twos. Not sure they can keep them all happy.

Glad to hear you add Clayton to the list of players we should keep. He has really started winning contested ball in the twos and runs hard both ways. Has improved heaps in the second half of the year. Would like to find a spot for him, even if it's on the rookie list.
