Oskar is a mate of mines son, Lee used to play for Windsor Zillmere in the 80’s around the time of the inception of the Bears-fabulous skills and Oskar reminds me a lot of Bakes.
Kids nickname is the “ginger ninja”. Genuine pace, outside footballer but good finisher. Was part of the Academy but cut loose a few years ago when they thought he wasn’t showing enough. Has been interviewed by all the Victorian clubs and will go, just not sure when.

Lives in the same suburb as me so may have seen him around

To be honest, after the way we bent over and got reamed by Adelaide and the Dogs it wouldn't have surprised me if we offered up that number 12 to Hawthorn for uncontracted Hartung.

So dramatic. Would have you preferred we go into next year with someone suffering badly and bringing the whole group down, making the new first year boys wonder what had go Schache down so badly that he cant put his boots on? And with the slowest team in the history of the AFL? Thank good Noble got the deals done he did, he had the worst hand of any team at the trade table.

Yep, if he was starting to affect the group negatively it was time for the Big Sexy to go.

What ever josh had done or what ever ever feed back came out of the reviews at the end of the year led the club to a point where keeping him was completely untenable going forward. I trust that Fagen would have led the decision and he knows whats best being a teacher and mentor to so many before him.. thats the part people dont get, he was never staying and that decision was taken with our other young players best interests at heart.

Don't care if Hatung is an average kick, all of a sudden adding his and CC'S pace, along with Lewey and Zorks would be a god send. Make it happen.
Boekhorst has both pace and good foot skills could be an option? Pity both Hartung and Boekhorst are squibs though...

He breaks lines, we are so slow. Put the ball in his hands and get him to use his speed. He would be on a minimum contract right? Use his biggest asset to assist our weakest area. Gut says given he and fagens relationship, our need for speed and Nobles comments about delisted FAs there is a good chance it happens. He is young.. there is still time to de'squibb him.

People need to calm down and get off nobles case , he said this was the second year of a 3 year plan , we got Cameron and hodge , let go a broken rocky that most wanted gone last year and Josh who didn't want to be there and is questionable if he will make it anyway

Most pundits thought we did very well at the trade table , pick 12 for a young star that will add such pace and excitement and was contracted was a fair get forget the numbers , think most don't rate this draft past those numbers

Be positive , hodge is the real win its a master stroke

Get excited stop over analysing and looking for the negative

So we'll need to delist Close & Beams to take 1, 15, 18, 40, 44, 53 to draft.

Hopefully we only take 4 draftees in national draft (3 first rounders rounders & Ballenden). 40 & 44 will be enough to match any Ballenden bid after Pick 19. Although we might want to take 53 into draft for Payne just in case he gets a bid.

Hopefully no more guys like Corey Lyons, Josh Watts, Josh McGuinness on the senior list late in the draft. It does hurt us with list spots.

I'm assuming we'll re-draft Close in the PSD or rookie draft with Schache's departure. Not sure about Beams.

With the small fwds we are getting Close can get the ball to ground. He at least goes at the footy though not many stick.

Wasn't traded surely we hold on to him

Yep, we will have to delist both of them to take 6 picks in. Close might still get offers elsewhere. The other possibility is that Hammer is upgraded. I could see one tall on senior list, one tall as rookie and with added midfielders, C Beams is most likely to not be here in 2018, I'd say. But I'd be surprised if we don't take 5 in the draft. If Ballenden is bid on late (29/30) we could have a bid around 45, which I think we'll use. Also if we do want Payne, if we don't take him at 52, there's really no guarantee he'll survive to the rookie draft.

If Payne is bid on in the mid 50s we don't have to pay points due to the discount. It's a flat rate of 197 points onwards from Pick 19.

Was going to say i dont think we need the 50s pick. depending where Ballenden falls, 40 and 44 might result in a pick at the end anyway. payne should go late enough that any pick can match. Should only need 5 spots for the draft.

I understand the discount rules, if a bid comes after 52, we can match with the bid that slides to the back, assuming we use 2 picks on Ballenden's matching. It's possible we could pass on 52 and then match a late bid for Payne, if it comes. Depends I guess whether we'd prefer to take him on senior list (2 years) or rookie list (not locked in).

Yeah, although why trade for it, if we're definitely not going to use it? I'd be surprised if we don't take it in because of the added flexibility it gives us. Makes more sense to decide on the day, rather than close off options. I guess if we are concerned that someone elee will take Close or Hammer, we might decide to just go in with the 5 picks.

Can't happen .... once you pass you are out of the Draft.

Sorry, I understand what you're saying... we could still have the pick that slides to the back from the Ballenden bid to match a late bid on Payne. But this only happens if Ballenden is bid on early. If a Ballenden bid comes at 29/30, we get around pick 45 back, before 52. If we definitely want Payne we might have to take him with our last pick whatever it is on the night before a bid comes. Seems more likely that we will go in with 6 picks to me, but I guess we'll find out soon enough.

Thanks... then we have to take Payne, with our last pick, if we want him, which could be as early as 45, depending on where Ballenden is bid at. It's quite possible that there is someone else more appealing there. I'm tending to agree that Pick 52 doesn't seem that useful or necessary.

Close cannot take a mark to save his life. Josh Walker is 24, and has the hans and bash & crash mentality to be a fixture in our team. I am, in one way, pleased Schache is gone as it gives him the chance to make that spot his owm.

Close - delist.

Geelong must be regretting letting Walker go - what did we give up for him?

I still see something in Close but I agree he is behind walker

I wonder if we have any interest in taking Miles in the PSD. He's been offered a one year contract by Richmond so he can't be a delisted free agent, but if he rejects that contract he can go in the draft (ND and/or PSD).

would rather back what we have in. With MitchR, Christiensen and CC to come in next season, and a pic 1, 15 & 18 plus the other young talent on our list, IMO we do not need others castoffs clogging the list.
