2nd round + Karpany / Lamb. At a stretch Partington as a quality set of steak knives. Hey maybe Le cras could be involved as the Crows are right in flag mode even though he's a FA.

That nasty hamstring injury doesn't help boost his trade value. If he comes back late and really does well that will help.

He's the same height as Darling and will always be a 3rd tall, 2nd tall at a stretch. I'd be hesitant to trade our first round for him, we need midfield talent more than anything else and we're not going to get that deep in the draft...

Fans tend to overate a players worth. Yes Gov Jnr has been good but not in the first rounder category yet so the fact he is out of contract we should be able to snare him for a second rounder and it isnt like they used a first rounder on him when he was drafted.

Who is going to be our first tall when JK retires? JK is not yet 30, hopefully he has another 2-3 years in him. Would n't Gov Jnr be a third tall whilst Kennedy is there?

Pick 48... which in an even draft for a 18 team comp should be a mid 3rd rounder. I doubt his value has pushed him to first round level. Honestly, it would be nice to do a player swap, and maybe downgrade one of our picks. It seems very rare that we develop a player that is surplus to our needs that another team covets. Strangely Sinclair is the only one I can think of in recent times, and using that resource has hardly netted us big gains.

If the salary cap is over 12million for next year then 600k isn't that high. Going into the future 600k will be what is paid to the 7-10th highest paid player on your list.

This is a good point. This season everyone got a 20% raise.

So 600k from 2017 onward is the same proportion of the cap 480k was pre-2017. Suddenly that doesn't sound so bad.

Then there's the fact that McGovern, a bit like Yeo, looks like a gun in the making but hasn't done that much on field yet. We should aim to swipe him on the cheap.

I just think it's too much to offer a 2nd year player that is coming off a major injury plus I hope it does not cost a 1 st rd pick but I know we will do that deal when pressured..

We need to get one of those annoying flashing neon signs and have it permanently on outside Eagles Headquarters the sign need to read:

ATTENTION TRADE AND DRAFT TEAM REPEAT AFTER ME :
MIDFIELDERS , MIDFIELDERS AND THEN MORE MIDS .

Well it would be nice to land a quality midfielder at this years trade and draft.

So a player (Gov Jnr) we could have selected for a 2nd round pick in 2014 may end up costing us a first round pick (and as a result potential A grade midfield talent we desperately need) in 2017. On top of that, the player we selected with that same 2nd round pick (Lamb) is out of contract at the end of 2017 and is highly unlikely (unless he gets selected and shows something remarkable) to yield anything of value in return. All this despite having five players who play a similar role already on our list - three of these are younger than Gov Jnr anyway. All these players are around the same height (190-193cm) so we may end up looking like the Fremantle forward line once Kennedy retires. What a way to stuff up not just one draft (2014) but two (2014, 2017).

Gov Jnr will be a very good player and by all means we should go after him for the right price. However can't help but feel that the hype around him is mostly due to what his older siblings does on a regular basis with us.
