McGovern is a tough trade as our picks arent quite right, 9 is too low and 27 wont be fair either. So some form of pick upgrades or a player is needed.

27 for Gov Jnr is bang on though, similar to the Yeo trade - a talented young player not yet a star who, most importantly, is out of contract and has nominated a club. All we need to do is satisfy Mitch himself with enough cash and the whole play-with-your-brother thing.

No need to complicate the trade up front unless Adelaide start being difficult.

Bloke has 11 goals this year while averaging 24 touches, 6 tackles, 4 inside 50's and 9 contested possessions a game. He won't drastically improve our midfield but i would have suspected we would have had a better year last year as he would have stepped in for an injured sheed.

Yes, you have to wonder WTF are our recruiting people doing a mature age recruit like that sitting right under their noses gets overlooked. Then a recruiter from Geelong, 3000 km away uses pick 66 to land the exact type of player we lack.

Mate he was one of the last picks in the draft. Not a bloody early pick. he 's 188cm contested mid that dominated WAFL and was exactly the type of pick we needed. I like Mutes and Allen but i'd rather have seen us been more proactive and fix our midfield issues. That draft we picked up a small mid, 2 back flankers (one with hopes of playing mid) and KPF.

We could say the same about S Selwood ...pick 38 for a player showing the form he is now is baffling
Menegola was dropped half way through the season but he is a very solid player and Geelong is a club of choice and can afford to take a few risks .= rewards .

It may, neither have much value but Allen is at least a like for like, if the Crows need a developing key forward.

last year he averaged 10 contested possessions and this year he is averaging close to 10 contested possession. We get smashed in that area and would have definitely helped when NN went out and no sheed in the side last year.

he would have formed a decent midfield next season with shuey, sheed, redden and Gaff. it would have put less pressure on the likes of partington, venables and who ever we draft this year.

Sam Taylor from SD and state 18s team was best for SD today , SD got thrashed though so plenty of ball in the backline but 27 disposals with 8 marks is pretty good for a 17 yr old .

Naughton is the most highly ranked but Sam Taylor as a KPD second rounder might be a good chance .

I think you're massively over rating him. It's that simple. This fantasy of a big bodied mid that you dream about wouldn't have solved any of our problems. We lack A grade midfield talent, which includes contested ability, but also includes pace, decision making and great disposal. He doesn't have a great deal of any of those additional qualities. Adding another contested plodder wouldn't have helped us jack shit.
