Now I realise they are extending Richos contract and this comment is in no way saying he hasn't done a good job .There is a reason why he was touted as the best development coach going around .it comes to a stage where boys become men and need a new voice.
I think he may have maybe 2 -3 years in him before the developed players need a coach to take them to a new level

You mean like how Carlton ditched Rattan to bring in the man to take them to a premiership? That worked well.

So am I. Everything seemed to click at the end of this year. He's a keeper.

If you read the Sloane thread on the Adelaide board they seem to think Dunstan is an ordinary player or at best a good ordinary player. Their perception is certainly different to mine, but then again I watch Dunstan play most weeks.

They seem to think Sloane is going. The consensus is they think he may be Saints bound.

Was Sloane in an online business with one of the Cornes lads? Because according to the Adelaide board it has been shut down or gone into indefinite repair. I have no idea whether this is significant but they seem to think it is.

Dunstan did show some promise towards the end of the year and it would be sad to see him go but the chance to get a top 5 player is too good to miss.

To all Saints Supporters - if we don't secure a good mid , Gaff, Hall , Sloane , Merrit , Rockcliff , Sidebottom , De Goey , Sheil we go to the draft and get FA next year
we have good young players and one more year will not hurt

Look I agree on being careful when not overpaying for players but please can we not chuck out players that have potential to be bloody important to our list?
Why would you chuck out one of the younger bulls? One who in the last 6 weeks seemed to have things finally click for him? The kid who has shown that he is St Kilda at heart. Why would we want another club to have a potential leader and captain? I want us to have that not give it to another club.

Something I have questioned too. I think we are asking no doubt. Haynes and Smith for 8 is something I would do. But I am really keen to keep 7+8 and trade next year's. Back ourselves to finish top 6. We are good enough. Kick straight and I think we would of been there this year.

If indeed Sloane is keen to get back to Melbourne and chose us,i think the R1 pick 2018 and Dunstan deal is doable and would suit Adelaide as well.
Adelaide are looking for 2x1st round picks for Lever but i think a 1st and 2nd pick will get the job done.
If Cameron goes to Brisbane,Adelaide are likely to receive either pick 18 or 19.
So for the 2018 Draft, Adelaide can use picks 10,16 and 18 or 19 as top 20 picks and gain Dunstan.
Then go into 2019,with another 2x1st round picks.Their own and Ours.Five 1st rd picks spread out over 2 seasons.
I am a Luke Dunstan fan,think he is going to be a very good player,but if we aquire Sloane and hopefully Armo gets back on the field,we will have a talented surpluce of players running around at Sandy.
And if Freeman also comes good his pace will put him above a few others,so we can afford to offload a player.
As Stavros said we then still have many more scenarios with what to do with our 2x1st rounders.
As stated many times,by many we need a star and i like the above scenario,just need to get it done.

Fine you've pulled my leg. We are trading Roo for Lynch Martin and May. Gold coast are also willing to offer their first pick if we include wright and Lonie in the deal. They need a player of Rooeys stature and leadership for their flag tilt next year

I'm just spitballing here after chatting with a mate.

Adelaide would do Gibbs for Sloane straight swap, possibly. Carlton might push for more as most of his contract is paid. Both OOC end of 2018 anyway.

What if:
-Sloane to Saints
-Gibbs to Crows
-8 to Blues

And to ease Carlton with cap situation with send them a player with a years salary paid. Just something left field. Means we don't have to send Dunstan but can still get the trade done at a reasonable cost.
