11 is too high for Naish and 28 is too late, Richmond need one of those two picks.

It might be alright. With the discount, pick 28 would allow them to match a bid at around pick 21 or later. If a bid came earlier than that, they'd also lose a later pick or have one slide back.

Got no idea why my thread was closed but I will place the response to JayJ20 in here:

Re: How do the bombers land Stringer Saad & Smith?

Pick 11 + Stringer for 26
Pick 26 for Smith
Pick 28 for Saad

If GWS are unhappy, then add a 3rd

Stringer for a points value of pick 29?

You're stretching the boundaries of credibility by getting 26 in return and then getting GWS to cop pick 26.

Good luck getting that done.

If you've read through the other threads on the matter, if we picked just SA lads we'd be bottom 4 every year.
SA is not providing their share of top talent at the moment.

That and the fact that you cant just manufacture getting the SA lads every year.
Adelaide develops players better than nearly everyone surely they can't back themselves in.

Easy to develop the 30th best kid, but if you're starting to get the 90th best kid it makes it a bit harder.

Remembering that other clubs arent just going to ignore the SA kids either.

Will Hayward
Jack Graham
Ryan Burton
Sam Durdin
Trent Dumont
George Hewett are a few mames that were taken just after your pics in the last few years.
Apart from Matt Crouch and Lever you haven't really done that well.

HAHHAHAHAHAHAH
Have a look at our squad, and tell me how many top 10 picks we have.
We have far and away the best record of picks and development in recent history, and all without our own academy.

Most people wouldnt even debate that.

For a start Durdin, Dumont, Hewett and Graham wouldnt have made our side in 2017.
Sure Graham had a good finals series, but he's played 5 games, lets not get carried away.

No good having them if you can't keep them....

Definitely an issue, but that's not what's being discussed.
You wanted to talk about our track record of picking players in the draft and/or trade period.

Didnt even go into the Jenkins, Betts, Jacobs side of things.

Remember we may lose Lever and Cameron, but could end up with 3 first rounders and 2 second rounders in this draft. Thats a lot of currency and/or talented kids.

That's understandable but the times you get a chance to draft SA players at close enough spots come draft day they should be top priority. Not picking a SA prospect who was a top 5 talent who broke his leg with pick 17 was always going to burn you.

Well it wasnt 'always' going to burn us.
We believed that Lever was the type of guy to reward the opportunity we gave him.
Cant really compete with someone offering 200-300k over what he's worth.

I love the rhetoric around melbourne...they 'looked at' him in the draft...but decided to go with two other players instead. How is that meant to be a positive for the kid?

That is a ridiculously high price to pay for GWS to pay for simply moving three spots and gaining a third round pick. No chance.

Actually looks alright when you realise GWS don't have pick 8.

I believe that guys talking about your decision to draft Tom Doedee instead of Ryan Burton.

Dumont, I agree, but Durdin is going to be at least a solid AFL player. He could have played a 3rd KPD/F role in 2017, and I would rate him a better overhead mark than Jenkins, and marking players is what your club needed on GF day.

Dumont's fairly handy
