Ahh I love the silly season. Ricky Nixon on twitter eluding to the one and only Chris Masten looking at a trade to freo

It's going to be a long off season

From what I've heard, he has been absolutely training the house down and is primed to dominate. Freos first would be around the mark.

Have it on good authority that he is currently living on streets.

Poor guy trained too many houses down.

Sharing my player board that i look at to get an idea of what our weakness is now, could be through the year once we have a few injuries and planning ahead for 2019 as some players may not overcome their injuries satisfactorily to remain on the list.

By doubling up with two teams it gives an indication of our depth or lack of for each position...while acknowledging players could cover for two or more other positions.
Apeness, Bennell, and Pearce are three key players in the equation. The layout tells me that Naughton will probably be our priority ahead of another forward depending on what is going on behind the scenes with the likes of apeness and pearce and a likely incoming trade 2018 draft

followers Sandilands Darcy Fyfe Mundy Tucker Langdon

forwards Ballantyne , Crozier Taberner Mc Carthy Apeness?? Strnadica

half forward Bennell ?? D Pearce Cox Uebergang ?? Walters Kersten

centreline B Hill N Suban Neill Weller Duman Sheridan

half back S Hill Sutcliffe Johnson A Pearce?? Blakely Logue

full back Ryan Spurr Collins Hamling Nyhuis Hughes

Griffin Clarke?? Balic? (ret Dawson, Ibbotson, del. Yarran) at start 2017 38 on main list plus 6 rookies
de Luca Cardillo, B Gray

Hmmm... interesting exercise. I agree that alot depends on Pearce and Apeness but I think that Pearce is more likely to recover well from his injury than Apeness who seems to be injury prone. A few other disagreements with positions:
Strnadica - From what I have seen/heard he is being developed as a ruck not a forward
Cox - The guy can take a great grab but he comes across as a natural Defender due to his kicking and was played as a forward due to desperation
Uebergang - Has been playing as a defender
Weller/Blakely - I would swap these two, Blakely was good at half back but I think Weller is better

As you might be able to tell by now with those changes we are massively stocked in the backline and still very thin up forward with nothing really being developed

Apparently Masto has a few years to roll on a very handsome contract. I'm quite certain that Masto will shop himself around even to Freo but I can't see anyone taking a bite.

Sorry Jako he will likely be staying unless WCE pay a portion of his large salary (to a VIC club) and you might as well keep him for the training down of houses in the PS.

I don't like throwing out names with the old "what about this guy" comment. I read an article on Fox that Gold Coast will be offloading Matt Shaw, Trent McKenzie, Brandon Matera and Jesse Lonergan.

Any thoughts on Trent McKenzie:

One of the biggest up and under, kick it long instinct players in the AFL. Ross absolutely frothing on the though of him kicking it 50m vertically to Ballas who's being outmanned 2v1. SIGN HIM UP

Strnadica Will end up a forward... think they want him to do both. Next year he will get his chance

yes i mean for it to be a depth guage not team selection per se but my concern is Johnson one year if we are lucky and Hughes hopefully up and going ...if not we are down to Uebers who is yet to be proven and has fitness issue too . so we could easily be down a key back plus a back up...hence Naughton

Any harm in picking up Sam Taylor later in the draft, rather than stretching for Naughton at 5.... can't see Naughton at 5 sorry!

That 1 step 60m drop punt and the torp are ridiculous. Pretty sure the rest of his game is a bit average but it would be nice having that weapon at kick ins and shots from the centre square...

Luke Ryan can do that.
The other two worth a look at Gold Coat are Nicholls and Rory Thompson.
