Wish we had better picks in hand prior to tonight.

I dont agree. Look at their list. They will be the climber next year. I think we may finish around the same next year as this, and they will climb 4 or so spots up the table. I think GC, Freo, St Kilda will all finish below Carlton.

If someone had said this year we could trade 13 and 19 to gcs for pick 3 would you have done it? Everyone would. Because that's approximately what we just did. Yeah it's a risk coz it's the future but surely we won't have a year as bad as 2018 where we still only just missed finals and surely Carlton won't shoot up the ladder from 2 wins. They were disgraceful this yearCrows got done in this trade. Two picks on a gamble for a top 5. What if Carlton have this Collingwood type year. jesus this is stuffed. I am not happy at all and I think the club just showed utter disrespect to an opposition club. We should have demanded carltons 2nd rounder at least in return. This is a horrible trade and one that could just absolutely bite us in the arse.
next years draft is rubbish. a top 3 pick next year is 10th this year. There is no chance Rankine or Luko are coming back after one year. We just jumped at a trade we over thought and we drafted players we may not have drafted if we pre traded this pick before the draft. This is not Ogilvy's finest hour. In fact I don't think this trade will sit comfortably at all tonight with the AFC.
No because it’s ridiculous to base a pick on what they do in their first year. Why don’t we just make it on who plays a game first? First one to get a kick?No one has the knowledge of what they will be in 10 years. You draft on what they have shown as Jrs. They both play the same position, not too hard to compare them in the first year.
You up for the bet, or welching?
Shit, after all the insight you've had over the course of the year on the draft (none), I definitely think you're in a position to bash Ogilvie. 100% factual, assured opinion coming from a professional draft watcher this is.
By giving out 2 of their best 5 players they did yes.Didn’t Port do it?
You think thats all that makes a team? You think adding two draftees, a guy who's played zero games and McGovern will make Carlton a mid table team?
Lol

Rankine might choose to be traded so we needed a pick before Port Power, who will likely finish 16-14.So which players are we now following next season for our pick at in the top 5 for next year?
Carlton posters melting at losing Pick 1.
Blues board are stoked with the trade

Because he’s a ******* gun who could play in the AFL side from round 1?
Carlton's 1st means we get Luko or Rankine next year. Its a no brainer.
Well the trade and draft period summed up why we need changes at afc. ******* bewildered by our decision making. Why didn't we trade into the top 5 picks during the trade period? I hope we do well next year but until Burton and co are exited from the club nothing will change.
And lost their best player over the last three years. Going places they aint.Freo got Hogan and Lobb. i dont think they going to go worse
Wow so
Pick 19 + Our 2019 1st for Carlton's 2019 1st
Let's say we finish 6th
In draft points value terms that is:
948+1,212 = 2,160
Pick 1 = 3,000
Pick 2 = 2,517
Pick 3 = 2,234
Pick 4 = 2,034
So it really is a gamble that we finish top 6 and they finish bottom 3.
They'll get better sure, but it's a very very long way back. Youd back everyone bar St Kilda and GC to improve so it's hard to see Carlton finishing above 15th.You think thats all that makes a team?
Dont see how another year into their next crop of guns like Crips, Weitering, SPS, Dow, McKay and then adding in Gov and and an AA in Docherty and a better run at injuries isnt going to give them a boost?
For real?
Their best 10 players probably have them mid table the next 10 are the second or 3rd worst in the leagueCarlton are no where near getting out of the botton 2
They'll be better than Carlton still. And lost their best player over the last three years. Going places they aint.
