I can't find the remaining draft order for today after the trades. Can anyone send me a link please?? Thanks guys.

2018 draft page on Wikipedia is very helpful.

And why didn't we land another late pick in 2019 during trade period if we knew not having one was going to hamper us this way with our live trading?? Amateur so far from us.

Ive never understood former players taking these roles in list management. Its not about footy. Its about strategy and deal making. What experience does power have in these areas??

Yep, Im annoyed.

The only 2019 pick we can’t trade is our first rounder. We can trade the rest of them. The same as literally 9 other teams. Are they all amateurs?

It seems you don’t really have a handle on the actual situation while having a fair crack at the club mate tbh.

Edit - Here’s the link to the article that explains the situation: https://www.foxsports.com.au/afl/af...g/news-story/ccfc00e899e938f992f77c2e2f9a3606

Would have been long odds at the betting agencies for the Tarryn Thomas bid to come in before Nick Blakey, Pick 8 was as high
as was possible I think Leon may have hacked the Adelaide computer system.
Two Tasmanians in the top ten of the draft what a resurgence for Tasmanian football, really gives them the spotlight.

They didn't do that. It wasn't a straight reversal.

They ended up swapping their future 3rd for West Coasts future 2nd in order to move up from Pick 26 to Pick 24.

I didn't provide the context because the difference wasnt majorly significant and it was a quick one liner (even though taken literally thats what it meant - see my other posting on the issue)....

They got a very small second round upgrade and a downgrade from second to third in 2019.

Its a better deal for West Coast, but when you take into consideration Blakey its a huge win win for both parties. Masterful move imo.

Also is a lawyer no? So isn't just some former player having a crack. Should be reasonably qualified about strategy and deal making.

didn't read this whole thread but something i would like to see happen.

If West hasnt been bid on by Sydneys pick 25. Could we do a deal with Sydney of say 25 & 40 & 46 & 98 1516 points for our 30 & 35 & 42 1546 points. Would then give us pick 25 to take best available. Then we have pick 40 46 & 57 942 points to put toward West and Khamis. Would not put us into much defecit at all if any and we can use pick 98 for Rookie upgrade.

Sydney lose 5 spots on 1st pick but then gain 5 and 4 on there next door so could be tempted as well

What does every1 think

Mate, preaching to the choir. Has been a very substandard off season thus far. Especially after power had talked big talk in his early interviews.

How on earth did you have time to sort that all out?

The trading out next years 4th rounder is annoying on a few levels. Why not just give them the 4th rounder we got this year for Roughead? A pick that we are not even going to use instead of a 4th rounder next year that we could use, use in a trade, not stop us from trading our future 1st

Question for those promoting how good West and Khamis- why are nobody else interested in them?

Or are they not as good a everyone has been promising?

Guys like Sturt, Quaynor, Stocker and Butters who few have even mentioned have gone way earlier.

Blakey got bid on later than expected. I think the possibility with some players when there are bids is that the team think they may actually get them. In the case of blokes like West and Blakey, they know theyll never go anywhere else so there is no value in bidding early.

Khamis is rated less than the others and always has been - hes a later pick and we know this.

Nice pick up with Smith, look forward to seeing how he plays at the top level

Who do you guys think Dalrymple will like at 25?

Hoping we can get Cavarra and Blanck as rookies

West has a pretty healthy dose of self confidence which might not sit well with some recruiters. Also being on the short side for an inside mid and at times not being the best kick would see him slip a bit. Also just depends on which clubs have picks and if they have others still on the board that they rate higher.

For instance if Melbourne had a pick in the teens they may have placed a bid.

Khamis is great at intercepting balls coming in but can get lost defensively when trying to cover a man. Great offensive attributes but not great defensively for a backman. Probably not that flexible in terms of other roles so might be a bit of a deal breaker for some clubs.

People may laugh at Carlton but kudos to them for putting their balls on the line.

I like it

The key with Dalrymple is that he'll pick blokes you've never heard of and half of them will end up being guns.

His planned moves?
Pretty sure he's said repeatedly he's happy to take pick 7 to the draft. Unless I've missed something?

The Club were always dead keen on Smith and I think are happy with the outcome, especially with the word that other clubs were ready to trade up and pounce on him if we traded 7 down.
Sam said himself he was trying to get a pick at the end of the first round but was unable to.
I think there was a bit of foxing from Adelaide about trading down with a Victorian club. Happy for him to not risk the trade if they thought there was a chance they would miss Smith but I hope he wasn't bluffed.

Surely if worst comes to worst we could still trade picks 30 and 35 to Melbourne for pick 26 and 49.
That get's us the potential West bid pick, some latter draft points and gives Melbourne a fair upgrade on their 3rd rounder for a small downgrade of their second.

Clubs apparently enquiring about west coasts first pick this morning. Are we one?
You'd hope so. Either of our next two picks would cover a bid for West at Melbourne's next pick, I'd trade our 30 + 34 for their earlier pick and get a pick in the 50s back as well which should cover Khamis as well.

Gives us a pick before West, then a bunch of late picks for West & Khamis with late no points picks for Caverra/Woodcock/Hayes.
