I like Rozee. But he’s not the inside mid we need, and my concern is our second gets pushed back far enough to miss out on the second tier mids.

I hope Berry jnr is available at our second, and that he can get past his injuries.

Our second could be around. We finish 15th so it's 22. it then gets pushed back 5 due to 2 priority picks and 3 FA compensation picks and then a couple of academy picks push their clubs picks ahead of us.

If that rumour is true; we may as well tank tomorrow to ensure a decent pick and get a priority pick too; I fail to see how we also wouldn’t qualify if we were to finish bottom two for the like third year running.

Irrespective of whether it’s true; IMO this is why clear guidelines need to be in place around qualifying for a PP.

The AFL is such a Mickey Mouse competition it isn’t funny and it makes out there is integrity in the competition. Yet umps / match review committee always favours certain team at crucial times; Bulldogs, Richmond (umps and Cotchin hit on Shiel) and Collingwood this year are cases in point.

PP are a good tool for the AFL to gain media exposure. Not only do the media talk about the top clubs but whispers like this give headlines for the lower clubs. Gets people fired up. Trouble is if we tank, the Suns will tank twice as hard.

Look at it this way - the suns are so poor they will pick duds anyway so don't worry about it.

More likely the suns pick a good player that either doesn’t develop and loses value immediately or walks out after a short stint..

I do not understand why any beginning of 1st round PP should be given.. Just hand out end of R1 more often and leave the top of the draft the same..

If a team can’t build through top 2 pick and 2 more picks between 19-24 for multiple years (that can be traded) that team has got serious issues and cleanout the off field staff and move on.. Why should a rabble get an extra pick before the first round that disadvantages the other semi rabble’s that finish 14-16

AFL House better come out and nip this s*** in the bud. They have very little credibility but I reckon there would be a massive push back in club land and via the media as well.

I have a better idea. Fold both of those shitty clubs. Would boost our crowd numbers losing gold coast and no one gives a shit about carlton anyway

Would seem Mark Evans has had quite the turnaround on priority picks. He put them away in a triple locked, electrified safe when he was at AFL House.

It's the difference between giving and receiving.

Maybe we can launch undercover boss Australia and send Gil up to Gold Coast for a year or 2? Would he be generally pleased after that stint?

But Carlton aren’t applying for a Priority pick!

Landsberger also explained that the Blues and Suns could have the first five selections in the highly touted 2018 AFL Draft.

“There’s been a suggestion this week that these picks could be at the front of the draft, old school style, they would actually come in before the draft order,” he said.

“That would see Carlton and Gold Coast potentially pick the first five players in this draft, a pretty rich talent draft. That would see Carlton get Pick 1, Gold Coast Pick 2 and 3, Carlton Pick 4 and Gold Coast Pick 5. Gold Coast obviously getting that third pick as Tom Lynch compensation.”

Landsberger suggested that if the AFL were to award them extra picks ahead of the other clubs, that the teams would be very disappointed.

“If that was to be even considered by the AFL I think there would be uproar from the 16 other clubs. I don’t think it will happen purely on the outrage it would cause, but it’s an interesting suggestion this week.”

The Radio here when I get home I will post for you...

So multiple people have reported the same rumour today?

That's usually how rumours work it doesn't mean there are multiple sources or multiple people with the same source.

It's just the whole 'it is believed' nonsense. Most reporters just report what other reporters are reporting.

Pre draft yep...not what was being discussed today after initial picks//

Well no, technically the priority pick used to be awarded before your existing pick, not after.

People need to calm down. They were never gonna give Carlton and Gold Coast extra picks at the start of this draft.

Yeah, that was my first thought, because the initial talk was a PP for Carlton at pick 4 and a PP for GC at pick 5, so I hope Jon Ralph clarified that the AFL will only consider end of first round PP's, and not inside first round PP's?

Landsberger was suggesting it would be before the draft
