How'd it all go lads?
Really? How so? Hard to get my Suns fill in the Off Season in sunny Manchester.Might be better if sunner gives a report because I was pretty unimpressed

I wasn't really in the mood to chat to players by pushing past the elderly and young kids lineing up to chat. Nothing really came out of the on-stage interviews. Dew was the most interesting but talked about everything he had before. So no major position changes just expects players to be more flexible if asked to take time in defence or forward.Might be better if sunner gives a report because I was pretty unimpressed

Commented on Maysie being critical to using the ball out of defence and our forward line as one of the most potent in the League so wants to be direct with the ball.
I did have an interesting chat with Mark Evans.
Asked him about the social media team and lifting their game since kieron left. Suggested to bring back the podcast even if it requires them to throw a few ads in from sponsors. And somehow he asked me about esports. Must be coz I looked young enough to know about it. So it's a good thing I did. Talked about his mate just bought a league of legends team and how esports is taking off on a professional level with NBA franchises running their own NBA teams in a virtual NBA esports league. How Adelaide and essendon own an esports league. It sounds like something the club is looking at as a way to appeal to millennials.
The only other thing of note was he mentioned the club was struggling for funds earlier in the year. So this had an impact on the administration side of things. And the club are embracing the 2018 comm games as the positives for the club will outweigh the short term pain.

Great work that you raised the issue - I feel it so bad at the moment that I will back this up by writing to the club.
Social media is our only real day-to-day connection to the club, and given that the club is at a low ebb this is when they should be ramping up engagement not reducing it.
This is one of my bugbears every year. How hard is it to keep your product (ie players) up to date?Great idea and if you think of it, mention the fact that it's been 3 weeks since the Draft and we still don't have the playing list updated on our webpage.

Goes on years you are a member, Lynch for 10 year, then May for 8-7, Swallow or 2MP was next at 5 yearsJust got my membership pack this morning. Curious is the membership card going to have your favourite player? Or is 2metre peter on every ones card with a silver membership?
Must be swallow. Technically I'm a 1st year and I got 2MP.Goes on years you are a member, Lynch for 10 year, then May for 8-7, Swallow or 2MP was next at 5 years

Gold Coast Suns player reveals he nearly quit the AFL after the toughest year of his career
ONE of the inaugural Gold Coast Suns players has revealed how he nearly quit the AFL after one of the toughest seasons of his career in 2017.
Ruckman Tom Nicholls has opened up about the widespread injuries and bad form had him questioning whether his career was coming to an end in 2017.
“It was really tough — it was the hardest year I have had up here” the usually optimistic Melbourne product and inaugural Suns player said.
“At different times throughout the year I thought about different options, whatever they would be.
“To be honest I considered a bit of everything. I suppose that is the industry. If you are down and out you tend to think about other things.
“It was just consuming me throughout the year. I felt like it was a vicious cycle where I was beating myself up every week.”
Nicholls didn’t play a single AFL game in 2017.
The 25-year-old was hampered by a shoulder injury in the season’s earliest stages, had a re-occurring ankle problem and then had his season ended by a quad injury that meant he missed out on playing in the club’s NEAFL semi-final loss to the Sydney Swans.
Nicholls said his inability to train consistently resulted in his form taking a downward turn and left him stranded on 45 AFL games.
Nicholls had been Gold Coast’s preferred ruckman in the previous two seasons but his absence opened the door for recruit Jarrod Witts to take his spot where he became one of the Suns best performed players.
“Last year was quite disappointing for me form-wise and injury-wise but to Wittsy’s credit he had a great year,” Nicholls said.
Nicholls said he used the off-season to speak to family and travel, a decision that gave him perspective and helped him rediscover his love for the game.
Now the 203cm talent has declared he wants his spot back in the AFL side “more than anything” and is ready to do it after going in to the preseason without having surgery for the first time in five years.
“With the shape my body is in I have given myself no excuses to get there,” Nicholls said.
“I don’t really know myself at the moment.
“I’ll be doing everything I can to get out there and I’m looking forward to that.
“I’m super keen to get out there and play some good footy with the boys.”

Thanks...have put it in my diary.
Do u know if they are going to train at Salk Oval first before going down to the Pirate Park at all?
Agree. Seems like he's just throwing out the 'feel sorry for me' after he didn't put in the required effort. Would love him at the Lions though if he wasn't able to break back into the best 22 and is looking for senior game time... will be a spot there for him.Sounds like he's talking shit - went traveling last year and came back out of shape and then he went traveling this year and he 'rediscovered his love for the game'.
Stop talking and start showing us something.
Also with regards to media it was also (and still kinda is I guess) a problem with the Lions as well. It all comes down to $s though and having a skeleton media department is the easiest way to reduce club operating costs. However, even compared to the Lions of a few years ago this current Suns media department is poor. Needs to step up.
