Injury 2018 Injury Thread

And even the players with ETA's are incorrect. Darcy and Dixon are recovering half a week at a time, and Spurr didn't improve at all last week. Then there's Sutcliffe, who has been concussed for a month but hasn't even been listed.

Our injury list is about as reliable as the MRP.

That's not entirely true. Firstly, both are already running, so the date is an approximate return to footy. Secondly, as posted above, the times have been:
4-5 weeks
4 weeks
3-4 weeks

So if they do come back in 3 weeks, then they are on track (if you assume the 5 weeks at the start was the appropriate number to start with).

If they said 5 weeks and it took 6, is that really such a big deal?

Why not? It's basic communication with the supporters, and we are worse at it than any other club IMO.
Darcy 3 weeks in the update today. He was 4-5 weeks a month ago. It's insulting.

Kane Cornes only last week gave Adelaide a spray for their ridiculous handling of injuries in the media. This is definitely not some Freo only problem.

That said, it is frustrating. I want the Dix back asap.

I prefer them keeping information about the fitness of individual players in-house. Apart from the obvious thing about not telling your opponents about how players are doing, injuries and recovery are imprecise things to schedule.

Also, you confidently state that we are worse at it than any other club*, and I would be super impressed if anyone actively monitors the injury lists for all clubs, so I take my hat off to you.

* just noticed Mus and Joao highlighting other clubs doing similar. As with our club, I don't give a rats arse if Adelaide and WC are less than forthcoming about their injuries.

I think what you will find is that all clubs do this because all clubs can't accurately predict injury length.

It's not hard to monitor what other clubs post at all. And I disagree with their view

Wow some people just love to complain. This si an inexact science we are talking about here. When was the last time you had a cold or flu. Were you able to forecast just how long it would take to recover from? We are talking about human beings here so what they do away from the club will always impact on healing times as will individual physiology...

That's a particular freo thing is it? Because other clubs seem to be able to predict more accurately than we can. So we are either poor at it relative to other teams, or we don't give a shit about the supporters that are interested and post any old rubbish. Neither is a good look.

Really? I call bullshit.

Lance Franklin was announced at the start of last week he'd definitely miss - played on Saturday.
Josh Kelly had a 1 week injury 6 weeks ago.
Toby Greene was likely to miss 1-2 four weeks ago.
Rory Lobb might be a couple. He was about 6 weeks.
Speaking of Rory's Sloane still not back and will be another month.
Jess Hogan played out a game injured. All week he was missing then played on the weekend.
Josh Kennedy (WC) was definitely going to be fit and available for round 1, then missed 3 rounds.

You could go through EVERY team and find multiple examples each year.
