Gold Coast

Gold Coast has named a near-full strength squad for Sunday’s JLT Community Series match at Fankhauser Reserve, Southport Sharks.

David Swallow comes into the side for his first game of the pre-season and will start in the midfield.

He and captain Steven May are the two inclusions for the SUNS.

The SUNS have opted to play with 24 players instead of the allowed 26, with Matt Rosa, Tom Nicholls and Jack Leslie coming out of the squad.

Sean Lemmens will also miss after suffering a hamstring injury during last week's game in Townsville.

Brisbane

Update - Friday: The Lions squad has been cut to 26 ahead of Sunday. Ryan Bastinac, Rohan Bewick, Cedric Cox and Oscar McInerney will be the emergencies.

Luke Hodge will take to the field in a Brisbane Lions guernsey for the first time on Sunday after being named in the Lions' 30-man squad for the JLT Community Series match against the Gold Coast Suns. Hodge will start in his favoured position on the half-back flank.

All-Australian Dayne Zorko will also make his first appearance of the year and will Captain the side.

There are also a couple of positional changes.

After playing only the second half of last weekend's match against the Swans, Josh Walker will start at centre-half forward on Sunday.

Jacob Allison, who also had reduced game time last weekend, will start on the wing.

Draftees Cam Rayner and Jack Payne are named on the interchange bench after both put forward solid performances against the Swans.

Midfield Coach Dale Tapping will Coach the team on the day.

Dayne Beams will not play in the match due to the passing of his father last week.
