Look how good Portland's jersey looks.

This is what I want our clash jumper to be. Red jumper, black sash and black numbers/writing. Red sash on a predominantly red jumper isn't really appealing.

Black numbers are more or less illegible on red.
It looks cool but it's not very practical.

It always comes back to this rather relevant point. Not to say I don't like the Portland design above, but yeah, this.

That said, I'd be interested to know how thin the red could be to still be considered a 'sash'.
The sashes we used at school were about an inch wide, as long as it's front and back and connects at the shoulder and the opposite hip it's a sash. A pinstripe doesn't count though.

Should be visible at a distance.

Still confused about why we need a clash strip. The AFL deems red to be a dark colour, as is black; so how is red acceptable as a background?

Going by what the AFL has said, both guernseys don't pass the dark colour test.

They abandoned the 'dark colour' bs. I think it's just discretionary now. Plus money. And bs.

Our jumper contains a red sash. End of.

What eth said. Why do we have to wear a red sash if the jumper is red?
I was also thinking about a thin red sash, but then thought "why?"

A black sash is much more sensible. Every person will be able to recognise that design as Essendon

Why does it have to be that way? We can amend the constitution if needed.

FROM MY COLD DEAD HANDS!

I've never really understood the fuss over this. Surely if it's an away game it can be expected that the away team may have to adapt their jumper to meet the appropriate needs...?

So I guess my add-on to this is: the response to the clash jumper thing is "it's only for the money", but I think that's a cop-out. I mean, who on earth would actually waste their money on the rubbish clash strips that we produce? I know I'd be a million times more likely to buy a clash jumper if we tired something a bit different.
