Where do we see Lukosius long term?

Sit him on a wing?

I see him at another club if he goes with pick 1, I doubt we will have that pick.

Got better as the game wore on

Nice running goal ...

If players such as Murphy, Kennedy and Pickett get a good run at it for the rest of this season we will look much better than we did a few weeks ago.

Agree. I thought we looked alot better yesterday already. We seemed to be able to move the ball from defence to attack a bit better this week.

Dose of reality hypotheticals time.

SOS has gone on record calling for a change to Free Agency as "struggling" clubs cannot attract high profile free agents
under the current model. Reading between the lines, obviously we have been unable to get commitment from any of them.
We have to lower our eyes to the lower profile types like Mitch Wallis and George Horlin-Smith, both would improve our
list, although Wallis has ordinary skills and GHS has been fringe at the Cats, although has always done well when given
an opportunity, and is just not in the coaches plans preferring the high profile boys and blooding a decent list of young
mids on the list (Parfitt, Fogarty, Cunico, Cockatoo, Narkle……..) They are our potential shopping list for incremental
improvement. The second avenue is the rumoured go home Brodie and Scrimshaw types, but they just smell of hidden
issues in a struggling team. Rumours of some possible Saints defectors, but nothing substantial surfaced yet.

I tend the believe The Red Pill that Shiel is close to a lock free agent next year given was a "mad" supporter who has
done his time, and we will be climbing by then. Cannot see the practicality of paying through the nose for him this year,
although if could be done by future picks, I would be in.

Lukosius is a talent, no doubt, the next Riewoldt, maybe, but we need midfielders. The popular choice at the moment is
Walsh, and no doubt he will be a quality player, so would be difficult to complain should SOS and co. choose him. This
amateur watcher much prefers the profile and limited vision I have seen of Bailey Smith. It is common to offer player
comparisons for potential draftees, and I have thought long and hard. He is skilled on both sides of the body, quick and
explosive, hits the scoreboard, high, but not prolific volume, elite endurance and is a December "foal", so is giving age
to his contemporaries. It is a big call, but my best player comparison is one Chris Judd.(Did I open with "a dose of reality")

So who do we want? Riewoldt clone or Judd clone? Interesting conundrum. Nah, give me Smith please

I'll take Shiel next year through free agency as GWS unlikely to have the cash to match. Best available in the draft,
unless Cerra wanting to come home rumour is true, then Freo can have our first for a three parts developed gun kid.

To hell with these free agents who don't see our "vision", two gun young mids with Shiel and Murphy (for 2 more years).
We definitely need to add some forward pressure types, and more mids (hybrid of both?). Not as big as some on the need
for a "lock down defender" as the dedicated small forward role is almost extinct. Definitely need some rebound run, but
may have that with a better injury run. We will need a developing gorilla KPD (poach Ben McKay) and another young
ruck over the next couple of drafts, but we have the nucleus of a dominant long term list.

Patience friends, the lack of free agents might slow us a bit, but good, no great times are coming.

Forward, roaming all over the ground

Ridiculous combo he and Curnow, with McKay playing closer to goals

Gosh... I know Collingwood are flying but that Stephenson is a real prospect. Anyone feeling a bit of draft pick envy?

Can't win them all. Dow will be a far better player with some size and a few pre-seasons. Stephenson will be a Top 10 league player though

Sort of agree but DNW Wallis or horlin smith smacks of fringe.

We were never going to get an A grade midfielder this year. We still need to hit the draft and get midfielders like you stated. Melbourne bowed to the pressure of trading their first round pick for DomTyson for pick two. That pick was Josh Kelly.. Imagine Melbourne now with Josh Kelly?? Need to try and target second tier players to improve our depth. Melbourne did this by getting Melksham and Hibberd. Once their nucleus was established they then targeted their most pressing needs Jake Lever. Getting a Shiel now would improve us in the short term however we'd have to give up a potential long term A grader. No short term fix. We're half way through this rebuild let's stay the course.

Oh God please don't say is 132 game rebuild now …..

Our first pick for Shiel & #12?

No problem at all and especially so given our three best players were drafted at around the pick; Docherty@ #12, Cripps@ #13, CCurnow@ #12
Can't go wrong can we? Riley Collier-Dawkins @ pick 12 maybe? :)

Ian Hill ?
He and Shiel would add so much needed class to the team.
Curnow and McKay would become very dangerous propositions with that kind of service added to our developing stable of young mids ...

Our list isn't ready yet. We all want a quick fix however that's not how to build sustained success. The entire MC have to stick to the plan and not bow to media or public pressure.

They will trade picks for players this year I think. I’d say they will want a rapid rise.

I could easily see us swapping 2 of our first 3 for players. Maybe get a pick back.

Shiel and say pick 12 for pick 3(my view of what we will have).

Ellis for one of the second rounders.

St.Kilda's rebuild is 5 years and counting , they haven't been able to add an A grade star which is damn hard to do in such a competitive market for the lower placed clubs.
Cripps must have assistance next season , if Shiel were to give Silvagni the nod , he'd pull the trigger.
