We need to start acting with a sense of urgency , if we are serious about climbing up the ladder and ultimately reaching cup number 17 we need to take drastic measures . We need to do whatever it takes to make deals happen for premium players ..supporters have had enough they have suffered enough . We want to be the old Carlton again

Nope. Keep following thr process. More draft picks and start adding some mature talent. IMO next year will be about getting the elite talent in.

I was surprised Worpel went that late also, having liked him in his under-age year in the TAC.
These things happen, but it's also no surprise he's doing well at a club like Hawthorn who can manufacture what they want from just about anywhere; See Blake Hardwick, Harry Morrison in recent years.
The selling point they still have at their club is one of, 'We'll make you a better player' and that's quite an attractive attribute for a club to have, from the point of view of attracting talent through the door.

We have some way to get to that level just yet and that proof may have to come by way of Pickett, Kennedy, Lang etc. They're being given opportunity and we have to show that we've made them into very good players.
More recent history has shown we haven't been able to do so; Smedts, Palmer, Gorringe, Lamb, Kerridge etc and we can add the likes of O'Shea, Shaw and Mullett from last year. Last thing we need though is for SOS telling everyone that we recruit players as 'fillers' That's not going to endear us to anyone.
In defense; I liked Gorringe, he did okay when he could get on the park. Lamb does his job each week and Kerridge can get the ball but his distro is suss. O'shea, mullet and shaw were only ever cover for Docherty and not long term. It's easier to look a better player when you're in an established quality side.

In my playing days I found hard runners far more intimidating than players with mongrel
And in the modern game hard runners are even more important than when you played. I bet that in those earlier days, whenever they were, then tactics of the day would be used to slow down that hard running player.

The term mongrel means different things depending on the era. Our current list bar Crippa, and he doesn't really qualify to be honest, misses a player I would class to have the modern definition of mongrel. We don't have someone like a Townsend, Mitchy Rob, Viney, Hodge even Cotchin over the last year or so.

I can work with suss. Distro better not catch on though...

Friend of a friend knows him. So clearly we are close ;)

But from all reports he is a ripping young lad and is desperate for another shot. I liked him in his draft year. Nice neat left foot kick as well.
What is he, a small forward or a mid?

We have 7 players out of contract at the end of the season:
Graham - Delisted
Kerridge - Delisted
Lamb - Rookie list
Rowe - 75/25 in staying's favour
Wright - 75/25 in staying's favour

That's 3-6 delistings from the senior list, which means 2-5 delistings from the rookie list:
ASOS - 25/75 in leaving
JGM - Delisted
Lebois - 25/75 in leaving
Shaw - Delisted
McDaid - Delisted

Note: This leaves us with 3-6 spots on the main list and up to 6 spots on the rookie list.

Draft-wise:
3 Spots: Keep one, upgrade 24, 26, upgrade 66, 74 (2 first-round, one third/fourth round)

6: Trade one for Adelaide's first rounders + upgrade another pick (e.g. 66 to 37), use a future pick to upgrade 74. (2 1st, 2 2nd, 1 3rd, +1 2nd-4th)

Targets:
3: 2 mids, 1 small forward
4: Lukosius, 2 mids, 1 small forward
5/6: Minimum of 2 mids, 2 forwards.

Geez i hope cunners can get some form going 2019. Josh dunkly at the same pick would of made a difference. Higgans over obrien would of made this team look massivly differnt as well

Not really... Higgins has castagna butler and rioli and a elite midfield delivering it to him
