This is true, but what makes you think he will suddenly be able to shake the tag next year? this is why Matt Crouch is looking tasty af.
Have no confidence that he’ll learn to shake a tag. But could Sam Gibson help out? Maybe he’ll do a job on the opposition tagger. Well there’s a bit of a conspiracy for you.

Gibbs takes the tag, and Sloany is playing for big bucks in a contract year.
Worth a look, i'll wait and see personally.

Luke Shuey anyone?

$537K with a 96.2 average but with Mitchell and Priddis leaving giving him more share of the midfield plus Nic Nat coming back to absolutely rack up the taps. He also got 128, 135 and 111 as his last 3 scores.

Sadly no, will be our best mid and attention will switch to him.

You reckon? i would have thought Sloane would still be the one copping the tag, if not then Sloane would be a great pick.

Love the Shue but he doesn't get enough of it. His max is at 100-105 average.
He's reliable but you get what you paid for.

Doesn't mean Sloane will never be tagged but id have thought teams will target each at different times, i can't see them letting Gibbs run loose.
Either way i think its less pressure on Sloane but Gibbs takes up points.

Ward rounds 1-11
Average: 87.5
Tons in 4/11 games

Ward rounds 11-prelim
Average: 113.3
Tons in 11/14 games
Yes but cyclops Whitfield and Coniglio were all out with injury for most of it.

Ward and Kelly stood up.

I think that it would be better to start without Dangerfield, if and only if you have the skill and or luck to pounce on him when he is ripe for the picking. On the other hand, it is Dangerfield, and if you miss out on a 200+ you'll be kicking yourself.

I for one am conflicted, but just because I don't trust myself to have the free trades or cash generation to get him in if the opportunity presents itself, I am likely to start with Dangerfield.

Fair enough! You pay your money and you make your choice. With Ablett soaking up consistent points Danger may not score as highly as this year. Also the Rd14 bye is very awkward as Laird/ Dusty/ MCrouch/ Fyfe/ Menegola/ Buddy/ Heeney and Billings are just some of the premos with the same bye.

Trading any of the above will be sidewards at best plus wasting a trade.

At the moment I will be starting without him with possibly Dusty/ Mitchell/ Kelly/ Oliver/ MCrouch and Fyfe which means I will already be trying to cover 3 mids without defenders and forwards with a bye. Accordingly I will adjust my forward strategy to specifically cover Rd14. With the possible exception of Crouch any of my other mids could be the top scoring mid for the round.

Interesting year. Potentially a changing of the guard with the super premos. Jelwood/ Pendles/ JPG yesterday's heroes?

Really don't know who I want out of Selwood, JPK and Pendles. All could honestly go 115+.

Selwood won’t be returning to SP status, his tough physical game is starting to kill his body

Pendlebury is Pendlebury but I feel like the scaling system was altered last year hence why he averaged so lowly, and I can’t see him going back to his 115+

JPK is a bit like Pendlebury in the sense that scaling has hurt him I think, but of all three of these he has the best chance at going 110 because Sydney rely on him so much.

Personally though I’m staying away from all three to start.

Pendles. Battles with some injuries and the birth of his first born last year. I think he's ripe to return to some form now that's all settled.

I agree and he is a lock at 580k IMO.

I have had Dusty or Danger in my lineups as I figured you either start with them or can't bring them in until round 16, due to the high concentration of premos having the Rd 13 & 14 byes. With Chris Scott indicating that Ablett won't be stuck as a forward I have gone off starting with Danger.

Think what works best for me is to start with Mitchell/ Kelly/ Oliver/ MCrouch/ Fyfe and a midpricer, probably O'Meara. That way only 2 of my premium mids will have the bye at the same time. Cripps brought in after his bye, unless Rocky is clearly going better. May end up with 2 of Barlow/ McLean or Dahlhaus as forward/mids to help scoring during the byes.

So assuming my 5 premos perform satisfactorily I bring in 2 uber premos to finish my midfield.

Expecting to manage with no more than 5 current premos having their byes in one week. That's the theory but in the heat of battle things don't always go to plan. Have fiddled with permutations with Dusty and Danger but wouldn't fancy a Rd14 team trying to cover Fyfe/ Crouch and Danger or Dusty out.

This seems to be a year where you need to plan carefully for the byes from the outset.

Currently have 6 top tier mid premos..

Danger, Dusty, Titch, Fyfe, Pendles and JPK

It's giving me a massive hard-on...

Obviously the number of premos on each line is purely dependant on where the rookies are, but if get an abundance of forward rookies and very few mid rookies, lock it in!!!!

I reckon we'll get a lot of mid rookies - but a lot of them will be top priced rookies which makes it very interesting from a strategy point of view

LDU and Dow and Rayner will all play. Be shocked if one of Cerra or Brayshaw don't play for the shockers

Tremendous value. Won't get him cheaper.

Really? Collingwood seem to be embracing the new generation of younger mids ''their future''?
I see Pendles more and more as a Mr Fix it kind of player. I could be completely wrong though.

Some AFL trolling:

Beams down as Lions hit hard at training

Unlucky half-back Claye Beams strained a medial ligament earlier in the session during a contested drill, but Fagan said it wouldn't hinder their approach.
It's only a matter of time for his brother
