the AFL really is garbage isnt it? honestly ruining in my opinion the greatest game in the world and its pretty sadI'm quite surprised that you can be charged with contact with an umpire on 3 separate occasions & it still remains a fine. I would have thought it would be 3 strikes & your out. Does this mean he could cop another couple of charges this season & he just continues to get fined?
Like so many things this season, the AFL has made matters worse under the current match review system than what it was previously. The AFL are so busy trying to appease the AFLPA that commonsense/clarity/integrity goes out the window.
I have nothing but contempt for the AFL. I had hoped that McLachlan would have been a breath of fresh air after Demetriou allowed the AFL to drift aimlessly in his last few years at the helm.the AFL really is garbage isnt it? honestly ruining in my opinion the greatest game in the world and its pretty sad
It is the players and coaches at fault. More goals required, ffs.I have nothing but contempt for the AFL. I had hoped that McLachlan would have been a breath of fresh air after Demetriou allowed the AFL to drift aimlessly in his last few years at the helm.
Sadly I think McLachlan is worse than Demetriou. He is too busy kowtowing to those he owes favors to actually guide the ship. Despite record membership numbers, I think McLachlan has lot sight of how many footy fans are disillusioned with the state of the game & the lack of consistency right across the board with MRO decisions, free agency compensation, fixturing, rule changes & of course the poor quality of commentary/journalism within the footy media.

is there any other sport in the world that the media has such an effect on?I have nothing but contempt for the AFL. I had hoped that McLachlan would have been a breath of fresh air after Demetriou allowed the AFL to drift aimlessly in his last few years at the helm.

yeah i am and so should you honestly, he's been fined 3 times for touching an umpire on separate occasions, meanwhile e curnow does it once, bang straight to a suspension, how doenst that piss you off, and its not just hopper every week someone gets fined for touching an umpire but never suspendedSo in summation, you're outraged by something you haven't even seen?
Hawkins forced the tribunal's hand with his aggression towards umpire Margetts. Ed got caught in the crossfire of an angry Cats' supporter in the media & an ex-Cats player at the AFL immediately following the Hawkins fallout.yeah i am and so should you honestly, he's been fined 3 times for touching an umpire on separate occasions, meanwhile e curnow does it once, bang straight to a suspension, how doenst that piss you off, and its not just hopper every week someone gets fined for touching an umpire but never suspended

Umpires have subsequently indicated that they have minimal concerns about the umpire contact which is occurring, with them being more worried about potential damage to their relationship with players during the game if suspensions are dished out willy-nilly.
I would suggest if Ed made similar contact with an umpire now, he would receive a fine only.
Bont should get finedI have a funny feeling Jed Lamb is in trouble for striking !..Didn't hear anything I got a glimpse of the tv this morning and seen his name come across the bottom of the screen.
I'd say it's for his kidney punch on the Bont.
Anyone heard anything?
Bont should get fined
Weak acting, he made the first move.

Bont hit him in the head first.
Of course the headline reads :- Lamb whacks Bont and hands crucial 50m![]()
Go to the 48 sec mark: http://www.afl.com.au/video/2018-08-19/lamb-whacks-bont-and-hands-crucial-50m
Bont gave Lamb a bit of a backhander to the head (no real impact, not reportable)
Lamb then responded with a bit of an elbow/arm in the back (the kind of thing that would happen 100 times in match).
Bont went down like he'd been shot.
Nothing whatsoever in Lamb's push/nudge/whatever that is even close to reportable. However, Bont reportedly is recovering from a back injury/sore back.
I'd say Bont 'exaggerated' for the free. Although also a chance Lamb went after a known sore spot/injury......which I am not a fan of.
AFL will spin it Carlton pest hits injured player and Lamb charged with "making unreasonable or unnecessary contact with an injured Player" Bont gets off attempted striking instead gets gold star for being a good bloke.
