Going to go against the tide here (and invite all hell's blue fury), but I thought that Charlie probably deserved the week. He elbowed May in the head. And while any fair and reasonable person longs to do the same it was quite while after the ball had left and and I didn't really think the bloke behind pushing resulted in Charlie making contact.

However, we are probably owed about 30 weeks of suspension credits and so all is right in the world.

Christian is a drongo I concur.

Ok, set the hounds on me.

Probably did, but with worse incidents going unpunished or just being fined, we had to challenge.
For consistency, the AFL need to compare each case.

I know the AFL doesn’t want to formally make precedent a factor in tribunal decisions, but fk me, they’ve essentially allowed it to happen for Michael Christian being a single point and he still fks it up right royally.

It’s simple as hell for him, categorise the incidents on video over the last 2 years, mark them with how many weeks someone gets or not and then compare with incidents from the weekend just gone.

It’s not that flipping hard!!

It seems we’ve been so afraid of falling out of favour that we have rolled over and submitted. We have lost sight of fighting for what is fair. Hopefully this emboldens the Blues.

This is symbolic of the turn the club needs to take. No more rolling over and accepting our lot.

Go Blues

To suggest his decision on any case would be influenced by who a player happens to play for brings his integrity into question. I don't believe it would be a factor at all.

It probably makes it worse actually.

If there is a perceived conflict of interest, the tendency for those with integrity is to lean the other way so as to totally mitigate any perceived conflict of interest.

I do remember Stuart Lowe being there once
I’m sure saints had it easy from memory

Good to see Carlton not rolling over like a sad and sorry puppy.

Would be nice though if the AFL scratched our tummies once in a while....

Would have to have good grounds to overturn which there were . It was a comedy of errors to ban Charlie to begin with.

im aware this isnt Carlton related but wtf!!!! hopper has touched an umpire THREE TIMES and still only receives a fine.. bloody bullshit

Agree and also these from today:-

Dyson Heppell can accept $1000 sanction, careless umpire contact

Christian Petracca can accept $1000 sanction, careless umpire contact

Only Carlton players get suspended for umpire contact.
Poor ECurnow!

I'm quite surprised that you can be charged with contact with an umpire on 3 separate occasions & it still remains a fine. I would have thought it would be 3 strikes & your out. Does this mean he could cop another couple of charges this season & he just continues to get fined?

Like so many things this season, the AFL has made matters worse under the current match review system than what it was previously. The AFL are so busy trying to appease the AFLPA that commonsense/clarity/integrity goes out the window.

But what does Gerard Whately think? Because that's what the MRP do!
