If Gresham, JB and Kent are going to be predominantly midfielders, where are we going to play Ross, Steven, Hanners, Steele, Dunstan, Hunter, Coffield, Acres, Newnes, Sinclair, Phillips, and Bytel? Somebody isn't going to fit.

Injuries/form is the simple answer

On [device_name] using BigFooty.com mobile app

FB - Webster, Brown, Geary
HB - Robbo, Carlisle, White
C - Ross, Steele, Hunter
HF - Billings, Paddy, Kent
FF - Membrey, Bruce, Long
R - Longer/Pierce/Marshall? Hannerberry, Steven
I/C - Coffield, Acres, Young, Parker

I know I've left guys out but you can't fit everyone in. I'm assuming that Robbo will be right to go and Max and Bytel won't be ready. Can't find room for Lonie, Sinclair, Newnes, Savage, Hind, Armo, Austin, Battle, Oscar, Dunstan, Rice, DMac, Paton, Wilkie, Phillips at the moment. Obviously only one of the ruckman get in as well, depend on form and fitness.

I don't imagine there's been too many premiership teams that have had 3 delisted players picked up.

Much less a team that finished 16th.

Good luck to them all anyway! Really would have loved to see Hugh make it.

Looks an interesting draft haul. 3 mature agers means we'll have 3 more players than usual pushing for a spot early as you'd think they're all ready to go.

Might be a pretty different looking side halfway through next year.

The rookie draft is funny isn't it.

I mean, Hugh Goddard goes pick 1, and then we get a SANFL premiership player and bnf winner of this year, a backman averaging about 25 touches at pick 3. Just makes no sense to me, Wilkie seems about 10 times the player.

Rapt for Hugh though.

Very interested that we picked up two North Adelaide players. We must have been scouting a fair bit of SANFL this year.

it didnt stop some of his south freo counterparts. if subi was too hard, its only going to get harder the next level up. hence my comment.
same argument could be made he would have a significantly stronger team around him at AFL level to help compared to his South Freo counterparts ... fact is even AFL listed players from Freo and WCE had their colours lowered against arguably the strongest WAFL team for at least my life time

It's funny how incredibly subjective the whole thing is.

Guess we'll see how the two lads go this year!

Happy with the draft haul, love that Gubby is involved.

I just hope we don’t make the same dumb decisions with the vfl line up that we have in recent times. Play Parker, Young and Lonie (when at the level) in the forward 50! Playing these blokes in the midfield all day for sandy for weeks on end and then expecting them to be crafty forward pockets in the afl is f@cking ridiculous stupidity.
Agree. Sandy should have 8 forward pockets each game...

Very underrated, guys who play on the edge make the pure ball players walk taller and the opposition think twice.

Long, white and a couple of others took it up to the opposition in a game last year and we looked like a different team.
Absolutely, as much as I loved Gehrig, Hammil and Penny joining our draftees in the Blight Year, I also dug the contribution of bruisers like Powell and Voss. We need roughnecks.

All I'm gonna say is I am so glad our club put our targets on Ben King instantly, and I hope we don't apologize for that statement. Gold Coast can **** off as far as I'm concerned. Time for this club to grow a spine and bully them until we get our guy.

Bring the other King home, it's only a matter of time - I hope.

Looks like a Parker/Hanners how did they get to the 40s job. Rapt on this one. Good character etc. Absolutely stoked.

Guessing the injury, plus the fact that he is an inside specialist might’ve made him seem one-dimensional to some recruiters.

Whatever the reason, I’m glad we have him. Isn’t he the one who came back from back issues to get like 20 touches in 3 qtrs?

Good problem to have. Either win your spot or play 2s. Should drive players to improve

Just spoke to my mate who has played WAFL for the last 10 (ish) years and had me so keen on Pickett. He was surprised that he wasn’t picked up, but said he wasn’t surprised Parker was.
Reckons he’s a wiry, hard unit, explosive pace and knows where the goals are. Mate, who played with Claremont, said Parker really crunched a couple of their blokes last year to go with a few goals. Said he’s a bit of a rare unit and isn’t sure how he will go outside of WA, but has a fair bit of upside if he keeps his mind on the job.
Fingers crossed.

Agree.
Players are there to win games of footy, not be fine upstanding Choirboys.

I'm getting shirts made up of this for sure

It appears we drafted a few of Connor Rozee's teammates. From North Adelaide.
