I admire the WCE for now showing support, now is the time.

He's again getting special treatment because he's Ben Cousins, ex-footy star. That hasn't paid too many dividends to Ben personally thus far. I don't see how that's helpful in addressing your claim that ego is the problem. Entitlement, ego, they're basically brothers.

I think looking at the way clubs including ours handled this years first round draft picks during trade week helps to explain this

Likely not IMO. Without the contract, CC could nominate for the PSD and Bris has pick 1 in PSD - there is no threat of another club nabbing him before Bris. With contract, Crows can make CC & Bris wait at least a year, and then Bris might not have pick 1 in the PSD next year.

Do you have Geoffa on ignore? Or do you not bother reading the post that is being replied to in order to understand the context. I was very, very, very, clearly responding to Geoffa's question as to whether we would have gotten the same even if he was uncontracted.

I am not sure. It is hard to guage.

Would we have received pick 12 for Cameron if he was not contracted? Maybe, maybe not.

If half the reports about how he spent his time inside are correct, then I dont think he is anywhere near hitting the bottom.

Possibly. But historically the threat of the PSD is akin to the ACCC (a toothless tiger).

I think pick 12 had more to.do with David Noble than him being contracted.

Could ask the same with Gibbs. Woukd we have paid less for Gibbs had he not been contracted. I personally doubt it.

In theory there is protection for the club with a player being contracted. But in practice the players still leave and pick and chose their club of choice and drive the trade.

You are correct, ego and and entitlement are very close using dictionary definitions. Take Edmund Freud's definition of ego its more specific to my point.

Good point and definitely something that I forgot to factor in. I wonder if the Brisbane faithful would have been as keen as many of ours to lap up the, "we needed to get it done quickly so we could move on to other trades" line.

PSD is no threat to a club that picks before you and could fit thrice your limit into their cap.

Given the Bombers doping scandal, it would have to be huge. Would need to be something like organised AFL manipulation of results or tribunal decisions or something like that.
