Opinion 2018 Non-Crows Discussion Thread

Jeez, I love Charlie Cameron and all, but I know a guy who is claiming he's going to average 25 disposals and 1-3 goals a game now that he's up in Brisbane. Tried to explain the whole inconsistent, poor kicking thing, but he's deadset on it happening. I can't think of many (if any) players who manage to average 20 touches and a couple goals a game to be honest.

Crows supporters weren’t there so they can’t use their usual tactic of ‘but but but just before that a Crows supporter was racist to someone in the crowd who just happened to be a Port official but the Crows supporter mysteriously escaped’ excuse.

I think the general issue is people only see the highlight packages. That's nice and all, but for every highlight where he bursts through a pack and can't be touched, there's another 2-3 where he turns the ball over by failing to be able to execute a kick while running.

I thought it was because I was getting old.... maybe it was because I worked out in central qld in the gas industry for a few years and the only station I got out there miles from anything was ABC rural...

Now I’m back I’ve found I can’t go without ABC radio and barely ever listen to triple J!... hahaha, Myf Warhurst has even moved over from JJJ for her own slot on abc radio..

Anyway... each to their own!... have a listen to the podcast.. it’s a really great story.

I used to always say to hubby that you know you’re getting old when you listen to or watch the ABC. I listen to Conversations a lot. But I do still listen to Triple J.

Port supporter does something racist is a bit like █████ saying something stupid at this point. Newsworthy in the moment, but such a frequent occurrence that it's hardly a noteworthy event.

i mean, it could happen. he'll be far higher in the pecking order at Brisbane than he was at the crows. its not going to make Brisbane 4 or 5 wins better though. they are still an extremely young team

After Sunday's loss he emailed me with this:

Player rubbed out under dubious circumstances
Ryder gutpunching blokes
Racial abuse from the stands
Recruits cant get on the field
No major sponsor
Polec with a ham/heart string

Welcome to 2018 (or 17, 16, 15 etc)."

Charlie hasn't ever played in a side as bad as Brisbane. I can see him going backwards not so much because he will get worse as a player but he just won't have the ease of supply. Lions will certainly benefit from his tackling and defensive pressure but I seriously doubt he will kick more goals and win more possesions there. I guess it really depends on whether Brisbane can improve as a team.

I think McGovern and Cameron have suffered to a degree by being the 5th and 6th bananas in our forward line.

Rarely the focal point, rarely isolated deep forward. Playing distant fiddle to Betts, Walker, Lynch and Jenkins. Sure there's lots of supply but only a small amount of it heads their way.

They are icing on the cake for us.

Cameron takes a decent grab and is ok on the lead. He'll get more opportunity to play deep forward at Brisbane. Felt that he got lost at times playing high half forward for us.

I see Vossy said in today's paper that hte Power game plan changes is a work in progress and will take more than one pre-season. Perhaps a Rucci counter for number of days before the game plan works against quality opposition? Seems contrary to their message that Watts et al will fix the issues.
