I would be calling for the instant removal of any of our staff who said anything that clueless.

Comments like that from Koch just allow harassment and assault to continue.

Nathan Bock is a good man who has made a couple of bad decisions, so our first response to you is that we’re going to support him,” Trigg said.

It’s up to Nathan (when he’ll be back playing). We’ve put a range of directions in place for him and will support him in executing them and involving himself with them. Should he do that and we think his state of mind is all right, it might be a one-weeker,” Trigg said.

Is anyone else’s search function not working properly? I’m trying to find the many posts where Nikki Know Nothing and Jenny called for Trigg’s sacking, but can’t seem to locate them. My bad.

Can’t figure out why the Crows have no issues getting sponsors while Port struggle. How many days is it now since Port have had a major sponsor?
Beautiful timing. Beautiful.

As an aside, re the Bock incident, the world is a significantly different (and better) place re how we respond to allegations of abuse.

In retrospect it was handled absolutely appallingly.

I also tend to suspect my reaction at the time would seriously disturb me now.

You know, I know a lot of you think this is kind of funny.... but it really isn't. This is STILL a ******* huge issue in society... and the way Port have reacted (and many in here), they still don't get it. Let's say the person he does this to is your sister, your daughter... your partner.... how funny is it then?

Precisely Jen.

Koch and his "we aren't monks" line implies the same old " boys will be boys " line - but what do you expect from someone who did this ....

"David explained he went in because he was 'busting'.

'I was busting as well. She was in a cubicle, I was at the urinal. And she wouldn't come out of the cubicle, because she thought, "oh what if you turn around?" I said "no one is going to turn around."

Samantha said she decided to lock herself in the cubicle until he left.
'I
got a fright...I stayed in my cubicle until he was gone,' she said, adding presenter Edwina Bartholomew was also there on the day."

What a slimy creep.

Commentary on the port board is already heading in the direction of "but ... but ....SPP ....."

I’m going to drag this over from the Kornes & Rucci thread because I think it’s more relevant to this thread….

Koch:

“I am not sure being a footballer means you have to be a monk. We are not running monasteries here,” upload_2018-4-10_16-26-12.png upload_2018-4-10_16-26-12.png upload_2018-4-10_16-26-12.png WTF

“It is a very delicate situation, they are young men.

“Yes, they are by comparison paid very well, have a role in the community. Yes that’s acknowledged, but they have to be young blokes at times.

“That’s why you put conditions around it and set behavioural standards. For us the disappointing thing is Sam put himself in that position.” upload_2018-4-10_16-26-12.png upload_2018-4-10_16-26-12.png upload_2018-4-10_16-26-12.png

Basically, boys will be boys. The biggest disappointment is that SPP put himself in a position where he could be accused of sexual assault.

Say wut??? upload_2018-4-10_16-26-12.png ...That's the disappointing thing about this?

Ok, I've rubbed my eyes a few times and this still reads the same. I cannot believe how insensitive, archaic, out of touch, gauche, and plain stupid this melon head is.

Long may this buffoon reign over the Port Adelaide Power franchise.

(Quoting footy4ever not to respond to them in particular, but because of the summary of Koch’s comments.)

Agree he is a buffoon. However, I don’t go along with the view that with the “monk” reference Koch was referring to (and dismissing the seriousness of) the alleged sexual assault. Of course he wasn’t.

But that doesn’t change the fact that what he said was monumentally, astonishingly stupid.

The issue here is not that SPP was at a nightclub, it is the alleged sexual assault. Banging on about the nightclub aspect, when that’s not what people are talking about / want to hear Koch talk about, what he, as an experienced club president and media person should know is the core subject, choosing to use a metaphor that was so obviously inappropriate - I don’t have the words to describe how stupid that is.

And then we have - from the above:

“For us the disappointing thing is Sam put himself in that position.” upload_2018-4-10_16-26-12.png upload_2018-4-10_16-26-12.png upload_2018-4-10_16-26-12.png

OK, I’ll pay that one (to Koch’s critics). The rest I can dismiss as stupidity and a poor media performance. But that last sentence - that’s not open to (mis)interpretation at all. It says, loud and clear, for all to hear, that the Port Adelaide President thinks that the most “disappointing” thing about this situation is that SPP “put himself in that position”.

It is an absolute trainwreck of a statement. KT is probably curled up the foetal position right now.

Lets be honest. If Fagan had said this, nobody would be making the same fuss.

Oh, yes they would, and so they should. But that is very much a hypothetical because Fagan would never be that stupid.

(BTW and FWIW I agree with your interpretation of the “monk” thing. But that doesn’t make it any less stupid on Koch’s part.)

And while I’m at it - I read somewhere earlier in this thread that Travis Boak had said that the leadership group had dealt with it and were moving on. Pardon? This sort of thing isn’t a “leadership group” issue; it’s not missing a curfew or turning up to training hung over. The “leadership group” should have nothing to do with it.

I know Jenny will answer for herself.
Please have a look at the concept of "consent" posted earlier.
There is no gender bias. Stick figures you see.
Why do you need to ask the question ?
As a woman myself I care about all genders.

Yep, I've seen females sexually abuse men in clubs, its just as disgusting, but never hear about it anywhere.

Would you feel the same way if an aflw player did this to a man?

A girl stopped me as I was walking down the stairs of a well-known city bar a few weeks ago. She turned me around, put her hands under my shirt and run them up and down my abs.

Now look lovely people of BigFooty.. I’m not going to pretend this is the same thing with the sexes reversed (I just told her not to touch what she couldn’t afford and kept moving).

I didn’t feel threatened or violated because she was hot as hell about 50kg soaking wet.

But make no mistake, #timesup is going viral. I’ve known women in the past who have bragged about being pinched on the bum by AFL footballers.

#metoo is going to take a huge toll on these chicks, I think clubs should offer them counselling too.

This equal opportunity thing has gone a bit far if there is a urinal in the ladies loo, or were the ladies in the men’s loo?Personally I’ve seen this a lot of times at public events, women in the men’s dunnies, I usually strike up a conversation with one of the awkward looking ladies just so it doesn’t feel weird.

Please think about what you wrote. If you witness abuse of any kind and do not report it is also a criminal offence. In some states and territories
