Gone for a much more premo/rookies team.
No Lycett
No Sicily
No Birchall
No Christensen
No O'Meara
No Cogs

I feel much better for it.

Can't upload an image of my team for some reason but i'll type it out
Rookies are basically place holders

38K left

B: Hibberd, Houli, Savage, Naughton, Doedee, Murray (Payne, L.Murphy)
M: Titch, Duncan, Zerrett, Fyfe, Treloar, Brayshaw, Banfield, Kelly (Finlayson, Ahern, Barry)
R: Goldstein, Gawn (Cameron)
F: Franklin, Billings, Dahlhaus, Walters, Petracca, Fritsch (Keefe, Garlett)

Any suggestions would be welcome

Re-think Goldy.

Duncan will be good to start with but once Danger and Gaz are in he won't get as much of the ball. Better off starting someone else

331k in the bank; still not pleased with the team, at all. Any thoughts would help :)

While your probably right, CEllis is in the best 25~, was emergency for the GF, and had a really solid year in the VFL.
There's gonna be at least 2 changes to the side due to Rioli and Broad being out, but it looks like they'll be replaced by Bolton and Short at this point.
If Prestia is out round 1 he'll play but could well end up being a trap if he's only in because Prestia isn't right.
Yeh well I wouldn’t be spending over 200k on a player who isn’t guaranteed to play

Here’s my team so far, not 100% sold on it.. any feed back would be great!

Reckon 550k for Menegola is steep considering he got an 86 in the first JLT and missed the 2nd one. Surely limited by the big 4.

Although not everyone needs the same selections of course, that's just my thoughts.

Why is there no :hearts: for Curnow in Carlton supporters SC sides ??

Averaged 87.3 post-bye last year which was super impressive BUT am worried how we will perform as a team minus Docherty and Gibbs. Think he is set to be a star but expecting around 80-85 for the year from him, with a big jump in 2019 (plus we will have Doc return then which will help Curnow as a forward).

Won't Curnow get more mid minutes, with Gibbs going ? .......the press was talking of him as a top rising star prospect this year ......yet the SC community are cold on him ???

EDIT: and yet D.Smith who averaged less the last two years, gets more SC love ? .....strange & his JLT was ??

Think the JLT figures can be taken with a grain of salt.
TOG% an good example. You'd expect McLean's numbers to be better with more playing time. The season TOG% would be much closer to reality you'd think.
When you look at last season's numbers, they are very similar when you take into account McLean played three less games.
Dahlhaus has a higher ceiling. Can McLean keep his post bye average going? Doubtful I say as per previous post.

But then the Dogs went 5-7 after the bye, barely beating shitful North, Carlton and Brisbane teams (av win margin of 11.6), and 8 goal losses to Sydney, GWS, Adelaide and Melbourne. Don't know how it translated to SC points per team but surely a revival of Bont, Libba and Dahl form would result in wins, which results in more SC points. They'd be taking the points from the opposition more likely, not McLean.

Food for thought anyway.

I'd think so, but then so will Dow and Kennedy, and Ed Curnow is a senior body we will have back too. Cripps missed the last 7 weeks too and Charlie averaged 90 in that time, while also going big (118) in the game Cripps got injured in. All 4 of those guys lack the forward prowess of Charlie, so I personally reckon he will only get short stints in the middle. He will definitely see more midfield minutes but he needs to be a keeper at 408k so looking at 90, 91 average in my opinion for that and doubt he will get there - Menegola, Buddy, Heeney, Greene, Kennedy, Wingard, Billings and Gray the 91+s in 2017 to put it into context.

Not sure what the press hype has to do with SC scoring or value picks etc. He's a big bodied versatile player who stormed home in the back half of last year to finish 4th in the Rising Star and 10th in our B&F. All of this means he is a top prospect, doesn't mean he's a good SC selection.

Sort of how Joe Daniher was promising in 2016 with a 68.8 average and jumped to 86 in 2017 with a fantastic season worthy enough to get him into the players top 20 rankings, an AA, a B&F, and 3rd in the Coleman. Still would not have been a great SC pick in 2017 though. SC/Champion Data isn't the be all end all.

55k in the bank.

If I go cold on starting Robbie Gray with him missing Rnd1 and/or a thin defense then...
Gray -> McLean
Libba -> Brodie
Cole -> Lloyd

With around 80K in the bank.

Pretty set on all this. It's purely premiums I'm confident finish top in their position with minimal mid pricers

Not logical to start RGray. Misses two games from rds 1-10. 10 games from someone else avging 90 is still better from Robbie avging 110 in 8 (for example)

2nd draft.

Def: Houli, Hibberd, Laird, Doedee, Murray, Naughton, (Finlayson, Murphy)
Mid: Dangerfield (C), Neale, Merrett, Zorko, Duncan, Fyfe, Brayshaw, Barry, (Kelly, Banfield, Holman)
Ruck: Gawn, Nankervis, (Cameron)
Fwd: Franklin, Heeney, Petracca, Rayner, Fritsch, Ryan, (Rioli, Garlett)

Decided against the JOM, Bundy, Sicily, Coniglio etc mid price bonanza. Whilst all are capable of 90-100 averages I don't see any of them averaging enough to be in my finals side. So if I'm going to have to burn a trade later I might as well get that cash cow money generation now. Petracca is the exception as I just have this hunch he may break out this season and move into premo status.

Still am tempted to tank the R14 bye (with the aim of dominating the other 2 weeks) and going full #yolo and selecting Joel/Gaz as well. Can't believe we'll have the best starting mid group in the comp yet 3 of the 4 will be PODS.

Alright Gang, i'm looking for ideas on how to spend the 404k i've got left over with this team.

New team. This is what i've done with the cash;

Hibberd out to J.Lloyd. Barry upgraded to Jelwood. Jelwood onto field Brayshaw to M8

First team go Venebles>D Smith. Ven is a slow burn, I'd expect Barry to average 20-30 more than him. Plus you don't have to start two small forward rookies on field.
