I reckon Will Brodie will be a decent mid cash cow aswell.

O’Brien down back should play a bit aswell. Can run all day.

Yeah Brodie and Dow too.
Should both be alright, but LDU and Setterfield are my choice for expensive rookies.
Hopefully we don't have to take many 150k+ rookies.

Would appreciate your thinking on some of your teams players ....

1. McDonald ....why do you think his game will progress to warrant D2?

2. Sicily ......i have him as well, but IMO to get full value from his DEF / FWRD position, i have COLL Nathan Murphy DEF / FWRD positioned as a forward Rookie

3. Treloar .....after last years heartbreak ?

Setterfield and Brodie are nothing but potential at this stage. Will be looking at cheaper rookies in the JLT, unless they show they can score highly.
Always good to have the 150k types though. Just in case not enough 102-123k rookies show.

McDonald will have unlimited opportunity at north as he will be at north for the next 10 years. Already has 74 games in 4 seasons. Finished last season with 10 consecutive games over 20 possessions and I can see him naturally pushing up towards 25 a game this season. A 90+ Average is very likely this year imo.

Sicily had 5 tons in his last 8 games to end last season, and has exceptional kicking skills, so if he’s playing down back as I suspect he will, hawthorn will look feed him to the ball to distribute from CHB as much as possible, particularly with hodge gone and question marks over Birchall. Plus he’s a pretty good overhead for his height so should also rack up those tasty intercept marks. Worth the risk IMO.

Treloar was doing everything right in terms of number of possessions, tackles, goals, clearances, but his ball use is what hurt him, and not necessarily all his fault. Collingwood over possessed the ball last season which really cost their players value for their possesions. I think they’ll play a much more direct style of football this year, and that should really benefit him.

SC officially opened for everyone around this time last year, right?

Opened Monday 23 January last year.

You think it would open tomorrow based on that

i think that goes for every rookie?

True. But he's being talked up as a lock by some. No rookie is a lock, even big favourite LDU.

Just offering another perspective.

No doubt. I'll simply be looking at the best spread of 16-17 rookies in JLT and teams for round one, regardless of price.

Hopefully we get a bunch of $102k-$117k types to pick from!

Bloody oath mate. They always seem to show come round 1 lockout.

Still remember going McGovern Jnr & Papley because they were named come round 1. Everyone thought their JS was shithouse :p

V10 Mid price madness. Rucks are dependent on R1 selection.

Defenders: Hurley, Laird, Shaw, McGrath, Doedee, Murray (Ballenden D/F, Mirra)

Midfielders: Mitchell, Oliver, MCrouch, Fyfe, Cripps, O'Meara, Setterfield, Ahern (TKelly, Worpel, Holman)

Rucks: Gawn, Lycett, (D Simpson)

Forwards: Billings, Wallis, Barlow, SicilyF/D, Christensen, Higgins (Venable, Jarrod Garlet)

B4 Christmas i had my team settled, excepting the Rookies ......i was comfortable & relaxed ....now as of Jan 21st, i'm questioning my pre Christmas judgement, and have about 6 players i'm questioning :'( .......talk about over thinking my team .....every bloody year :'(
What would Garth do?

Ahern, Higgins, Kelly, Worpel all my current Mid Rookies .....plus obviously LDU + possibly Will Brodie ?
I expect Brodie to play round 1.

Any Gold Coast fans care to add anything?

Killed it the second half of last year when on the wing.

There's talk he will run through the center square rotation this year.

He's my tip for our B&F tbh.
