Anyone else seriously considering Mason Cox as a FWD to give ruck cover?

Yes, clearly Saturday was a blue moon performance, but he also scored okay in JLT 1. If there are no rookie rucks playing round 1 I'll seriously consider carrying him.

Nervous about Stephenson but don't want Ryan. Rest I am happy enough with. 1 game won't stop me picking Danger.
Didn’t sexy Robbie cop a week?

that is true, but id be more comfortable VC'ing any of my 5 mids over C'ing them, if that makes sense
Absolutely. Gawn another legit option IMO, and don't forget Bont. He's only got to look like getting within 20 metres of the ball and CD award him points.

probably the concern is no obvious captain choice

I like it. First team I've seen with McGovern in it and I love that option.

Fit Fyfe is a great captain option. 122 av in 2014, 124 in 2015 (134 from his first 12 games), 2016 a write-off, 2017 he finished off with his last 8 games averaging 126. Reckon any player who averages over 115 is a good captain option. Favourable draw too for Fyfe in terms of having a chance at a vice-captain score as he plays on Sundays a lot. Max Gawn, Lance Franklin, Marcus Bontempelli all good VC options capable of scoring 130+.

currently got the C on Bont.

Want to C Buddy cos playing Wet Toast round 1, but its the last game of the round, which isnt ideal

There'll be a fleeting response to his JLT by bringing him in .....but once reality sets in

I have 5 dockers too. Rolling the dice with Luke Ryan in def.
Bloody hell !@!! .....as soon as someone mentions "breaking a record" ......all the hopeful record breakers pop out of the woodwork ...:p

yes he did
I'm still having Gray in my side .....i'll take the week hit, as we do with 1 week injuries throughout the season .....but i'm not wasting a trade bringing him in later

how though? and which mid do i kick?

Cole and Brown the two I can downgrade to cheaper rookies, but not sure which mid I want to drop for Titch
If it was me, I'd flick Bont, despite his KOTD ness. Still a question mark for me over how much time he will spend in the guts. His scores suffered last year after he started spending more time forward. the dogs have a LOT of midfielders.

Gone with a few mid-price MIDs heading into 2018 in the form of Coniglio, Cripps and Libba. But the catch is they all have favourable scoring histories; of which i'm confident they can all get back to and push 100+.

I still don't trust O'Meara and his knee, but moreso I think his style of play has changed dramatically off the back of his injuries, which has seen him opting to handball twice as much compared to before he had the knee issues. This equals lower scores and a very limited ceiling. Whilst I have no doubt he will make $$, i'm confident Libba will do just the same whilst producing more consistent high scores with a much higher ceiling, so am happy to pay $100k more for that security.

I've made the painful decision to remove Danger from my team as the issues surrounding his back problems and now his hammy (which can easily be directly related, mind you) scream long-term as opposed to it being a niggle he can get over quickly, as I reckon it is something that will rear it's head during the season once again. Just a hunch, but I hope i'm wrong as i'd love to get him back in. If he does make a full recovery, i'm banking on him being managed coming back and scoring just enough to lose some value and hopefully by that stage I can cull a cashcow or two and upgrade mid-pricer for him.

Still unsure as to who steps up as R2. I had Lycett there initially, but apart from his terrible scoring ability, I wouldn't be surprised and am more worried that the Eagles may drop him in the early rounds off the back of one or two poor showings, and play McInnes instead. If that were to happen i'd be up Ship Creek without a paddle. I love Sandi, who I think is slightly underpriced for what he can produce, but still undecided how his body can hold up. The other option is my 2017 mid-price king in Nank, who appeals as he should play solo ruck once again this season - at the very least in the early part of the year.

The FWDs are mid-price madness yet again - but with sound reason. There are virtually no rookies capable of holding spots in the early rounds apart from Fritsch and Ryan, so need to spread the cash over the FWDs to ensure I have reliable scorers in the first four spots. The first three in McLean, Smith and Petracca are all going to be given ample time in their respective midfields this year, and they have shown they are all more than capable of producing consistently decent scores on a weekly basis. Sicily is one player I cannot stand, but can't ignore his scoring ability playing off half-back for the Hawks. You can almost pencil in him missing a week through suspension, so having Keeffe with the DP DEF/FWD swing helps in that situation.

The DEFs are pretty stock standard, with Savage the one player I think can step up and lift his average. Rolling with only 3 reliable defenders, with the next 5 spots filled by the plethora of defensive rookie options on offer who will hopefully help generate some cash.

misses 2 of the first 10.

Maximum only getting about 800 points from him in the first 10.

Whereas you could get 1000-1050 points from Walters/McLean/Smith/Dahl/Greene/Heeney for around the same price. could put you 2000 spots higher than if you hold Gray.

look fair enough. Only just got the ton with 20 and 3 against the Pies.

Food for thought for sure. But need to a find a viable rookie to downgrade to before I can do that

As TheBeardAmigos said, misses 2 of the first 10, but also his draw opens up massively after China. Out of teams he averages less than 90 against over his career, he has 4 before round 10 and 2 after. Out of teams he averages over 100 against over his career, he has 3 before round 10 (missing round 1 v Freo) and 6 after. I reckon in general it's not too badly a wasted trade if it's a targeted upgrade, sort of like picking up a Sydney midfielder (Kennedy or Parker) around their bye round is usually a hit pick.

edit: not saying he's a bad pick at all - you know he will finish right up there as a forward, just that I don't think it's a wasted trade.

still not convinced on Nank, but last season playing as main ruck would have helped his endurance levels. Another pre season with a defined role again, makes him tempting.

Love Paddy though so....
I am going with Nank at the moment. Was going to go with Kreuzer but with the lack of viable ruck backup, he's too much of an injury risk for mine. Nank fits the bill in terms of hitting his peak. Big men take longer to develop. Nank is 23yo now. Perfect age to fulfil his potential. The fact that he had 21 disposals against North would indicate a significant improvement in his endurance levels. Having said that though, you can't go wrong with Ryder either.
