2018 Rate My Team (Post JLT)

I wont reveal my team yet but can safely say it is from left field. I don't really have any huge PODs - although im still considering 1 or 2 - but i have not seen anyone post a team with my structure yet. Its very much a risk/reward team, probably containing as much risk as any team that ive seen posted on here. If i was to post it i bet most people would recommend 5-10 changes but for some reason or another im very happy with it. I'd love to see some more teams taking more risks or at least straying from what has become the typical structure.

Worried Murphy wont play wich leaves me short to upgrade to Cole who has better JS but I feel pretty set on these premos now, until Danger gets named.......was rolling with a 3 premo fwd line but the rookie option there are shithouse so I decided to take the punt on Devon.

Looks good but you'd have to be a brave man starting 4 Fremantle mids

I think (Hope) we'll play finals this year but if there is one thing you learn being a Melbourne supporter it is to lower your expectations. But if we have a good run with injuries anything is possible, like your Tiges and the Dogs before them.

I would love to fit Oliver into my mids, just think Fyfe and possibly even Bont as better value picks and I am not sacrificing Dusty to get him in. Got a feeling Petracca will break out this year as he is now ready to play large spurts in the mids, Pig I think will repeat from last year as he gets a tonne of the ball and Gus I am more hoping that he has some better luck with injuries and if so feel he can average 80-85. Maxy at 500K is a no brainer and everyone will have him in their sides.

Only 20K left so I can't even swing Nic Nat to Nank as previously planned. Might have to risk Sandi is Nic Nat doesnt get up.

Hey guys, any feedback is welcome - I’m trying to mix it up, but don’t know if starting without Danger &/or Dusty is gonna bite me on the a$$, obviously Cox as R2 is a gamble but he is clearly part of Pies plans, they didn’t just sign him for 3 yrs to play VFL..

Any recommendations?

im guessing a super light defense. possibly 0-2-6 with the 2 mid-pricers being on the cheap side...or perhaps even lighter.

smart move not posting here. i have a pretty conventional set-up but i like it and i dont want any of these kents filling my head conflicting ideas so i wont post it either.

I will say i have heaps of mid-pricers across all positions. I think what makes my team unique is that i have plenty of MPs under 300k, more than ive seen from any other team posted here. It could (and probably will) go horribly wrong but at this stage i still really like it.

Starting to think a 3-0-5 structure with Naughton as only expensive rookie won't work. Don't think Murphy will play now.

Do you really think 5 Dees keepers will work?
They already averaged 1674 points of the 3300 each week.
Yet they only had 2 players averaged over 100 (Olipig 111.5, Jones 100.9, Hibbo very close with 99.2) last season.
Most would be expecting Gawn to go back to 110ppg, so that's 20 more points a game for just him, then ANB and Petracca would have to average at least 15ppg more to be worth it. That would having them getting about 1725ppg as a team.
That's not even accounting for blokes like Oli, Hogan, Hunt, Lever, Salem, naturally improving also. (Although some players will also regress)

Just can't see it working.

I’ve tinked so much with my team that Tom Bell is at F5! looking at it though he is a reasonable chance to out score Christensen. Seemed to play inside mid in JLT. Athough Beams will be back in.

I don't get the love for Robbie Gray. Surely he's an upgrade target as opposed to a starter? He misses two of the first ten rounds. After round 10, that should give people a big enough sample of what/ where he is going to play this year. Have I missed something here?

Agreed, he'd be all but a lock in my team if had regular bye round and wasn't suspended for round 1 but when you take into account the rookies that would be covering him it turns me right off.

Although if Garlett comes out and scores 90+ on Thursday night, I'll be tempted to start Gray and use him as a loophole.

As far as feedback on your team. Zorko is shaping up to be as a decent POD, currently sitting in around 8.5% of teams and should comfortably finish with a 107+ average. I like Howe as a pick but I think he's had an interrupted preseason, some of our Pie posters should be able to confirm if this is the case or not. The rest is pretty vanilla as far as the BF bubble goes - not that there's anything wrong with that.

That team you posted a couple days ago was great. If I wasn't starting 6 mid premiums, I'd be starting a very similar team to that.

What about Mihocek? I know he'll score like shit but if he starts round 1 and stays in the side he doesn't need to score much to make $100k or so.

In the last 24 hrs I've decided to take a slightly different, but risky approach.

I'll be starting with 6 rookies total, 3 premium and 3 regular for plenty of upgrade targets.

Danger/Dusty/Fyfe/Parker will be my upgrade targets (for now). I presume Danger's value will drop with Ablett in the mix now.

Getting on the Armitage train for some nice value, he's had a good JLT so no reason to think he'll be poor come round 1.

Forward line is set, hardly any good rookies for round 1.

$216,100 should be more than enough spare cash for future upgrades.

Any thoughts?
