They're finally bringing back the reserves comp next year with some games being played before the seniors. I use to love going to G early to watch the ressies before the main game. Great way to watch the young guns pushing for senior selection. That stinks .....that's why AFL clubs want a reserves comp ....too long a gap for club with under-done players to get the neccessary game time, to get back to AFL
West AdelaideMe too, but sadly we're in the minority ......most patrons have been conditioned to buy tickets on-line, have a bite to eat outside or rock up lateThey're finally bringing back the reserves comp next year with some games being played before the seniors. Will score 110+ SC points round 2 and campaigners will trade out Shaw to lock him in.Did they say anything SC relevant?

Everyone cooling on Rayner? He’ll play plenty this year. Definitely in line for a rd1 debut too.

Luke Ryan got 3 hundreds (top 136) in 11 games to average 76. Also got 32 in the 2nd week of SC finals, same score as Goldy. At least it was better than super Parsons 18. I remember it well!Sps did vs Collingwood
Does anyone know the latest on Garletts jlt injury, Is he going to be right for round 1? i crossed him off the list until Picketts injury but he could be a decent option up fwd assuming he should play.

The whole idea of rookies is to make cash. A 117k rook averaging 60 will make more cash than a 200k rook averaging 70. If you have confidence that Rayner will average around 80 then it's probably worth the punt, but there aren't too many rooks that average that high in their first season, regardless of their draft position.I'm thinking he will be worth starting with given his JS and quality. Can't have only 117k rooks in there.
all it takes is one score of 80+ and the cash generation begins. you wont get rich off him but at least its something. The whole idea of rookies is to make cash. No issues with high priced rookies, but if you have too many then you are reducing the number of premium players you can start with. Brayshaw is the only high priced rookie I am starting with this year.

most of the other fwd rooks have extremely dodgey job security and a ceiling of 60 so it might be worth paying the extra.
i cant afford him and he's not a priority to me but if i had the money i'd consider it.

Agree with both comments in that it's all about job security. However, $202k for someone that's likely to be stuck in the forward pocket all year while he builds his tank in a team that is struggling doesn't appeal to me. It's already clear that Brayshaw is going to play midfield, whereas I'm not so sure about that with Rayner. For an extra $22k you can get Brown, who is definitely going to play all year (barring injury) and is a second year player, so has another preseason under his belt. It all comes down to how well they fit your structure.Exactly job security is the most important thing when selecting a rookie.. Rayner will be given the first 10 games, even if he is not getting a kick.. Where someone like Gyan Miers might play round 1 is cheap have 2 scores of 60 and then get dropped and not be seen until round 15.. and you are stuck with him on your bench knowing he will go up in value when next selected. IMO with your round 1 team your better off picking the players with job security even if you have to pay a little extra, and the cheap rookie come to play when doing your first lot of downgrades.
West AdelaideI can't see this being Fagan's approach ......he'll be aware of not destroying the kids confidence, if he isn't getting a kick ......a lot of coaches play rookies in blocks of 3-4 games, gives both the mind & body some recovery .....remember AFL is brutal & diff to U18Exactly job security is the most important thing when selecting a rookie.. You only have to look at SPS/SPP/McGrath to know that isn’t true..I can't see this being Fagan's approach ......he'll be aware of not destroying the kids confidence, if he isn't getting a kick ......a lot of coaches play rookies in blocks of 3-4 games, gives both the mind & body some recovery .....remember AFL is brutal & diff to U18
This get my juices flowingSammy Murray's old man was in at my work yesterday, his family and a couple of the regulars are going down for round 1, Collingwood's shout.

y so confident that Brown will be played all year? Will play this week for sure but I'm not so sure when all their midfielders come back?Agree with both comments in that it's all about job security. but these guys were dominating and playing well. thats 3 out of 80? draftees from last yearYou only have to look at SPS/SPP/McGrath to know that isn’t true..
Because the pies are re-building and they need to play their youngsters. From what I've seen and read he's pretty talented. Obviously he'll get dropped if he doesn't play well but I reckon there is less risk with a second year player.y so confident that Brown will be played all year? Sounds like you are talking about Nic Newman in 2017.Murray is going to be one of those rookies who has a couple big scores, following by a few low scores.
He'll have a high breakeven and look to have maxed out. Most people will trade him out.
He'll then pump out consecutive 100s and end up above $400k
I rate him too but don't have the faith that Buckley can understand the concept of rebuildBecause the pies are re-building and they need to play their youngsters.
