Why would we want to trade Acres for Cerra? I don't get it...what is it with everyone wanting to trade our best players.

Oh, and I saw somewhere before Weller to GCS for a 2nd rounder. Absolute lol. He's bloody average and they delisted him a few years ago. He's not worth anything to them, or any other club.

Cerra is well and truly in front of where Acres was at the same age. He looks like he’s a future AA midfielder in the making. We’d be silly not to do that deal and Freo would be silly to do it.

I think it's a fair and equitable trade both appear to want to head home both have contracts to honor & we get a player that will play a minimum of 10 years for us.

Acres has an additional 3 years of development in him. He has massive upside. He’s almost as big as Cripps and will be a star.

Freo can throw in a 2nd RDP as well. We can give them a 4th rounder to even it up.

ST KILDA is leading the race to sign Category B rookie Geremy McKay after the talented basketballer trained with its VFL team last week.

McKay is the grandson of former Saints defender Tom McKay, who played 23 games for the club between 1959-1964.

The 22-year-old declared his interest in becoming an AFL player after calling Melbourne radio station Triple M during a broadcast last month.

McKay has represented both the Under-18s and Under-19s Australian basketball teams and played alongside names now renowned in the AFL and NBA, including Christian Petracca (Melbourne) and Ben Simmons (No.1 NBA draft pick – Philadelphia 76ers).

Having spent the past four years playing college basketball at the highest level in California and Washington, McKay now holds serious ambitions to secure an AFL contract via the Category B route.

"I trained (at Sandringham) twice and had a blast getting back into footy in really wet conditions," McKay told afl.com.au.

"I couldn’t have asked for more from the Saints, they gave me some really honest feedback."

Guided by former Saints veterans Matt Maguire and Aaron Hamill, McKay was pulled away from the main group to be tested on his ball skills and agility.

"They got me to do a lot of high marking and ground ball drills [to test me] above the head and below the knees," McKay said.

Standing at 200cm and 104kg, McKay holds a similar frame – and college background – to that of Collingwood's American recruit Mason Cox.

Cox has been a revelation for the Magpies this season, displaying the attributes needed to become a star by booting five goals against Melbourne and winning the Neale Daniher trophy for best on ground in the Queen’s Birthday clash.

McKay claims he recorded a running vertical jump of 87cm – a score which would place him inside the top-10 performers at the 2017 NAB AFL Draft Combine.

But McKay, as honest as he is confident, recognises there are areas of his game which need improvement.

"My hands were quick (in the handball drills), but my kicking definitely needs work," he said.

Having last played competitive football for De La Salle in 2011, McKay has gained inspiration after seeing Corey Maynard and Joel Smith drafted to Melbourne as Category B rookies.

But the basketballer-cum-footballer shed light on the moment that reignited his passion for the sport he's loved since birth.

"I have always loved footy," McKay said.

"One of my mates from Canada is a mad Essendon supporter.

"He came down to visit me and we were watching [the] Anzac Day (match between Essendon and Collingwood) and all these memories flooded back.

"I got goose bumps."

It was at that moment McKay knew, going forward, he didn't want to have any regrets.

"The 'what if' kicked in after Anzac Day," he said.

"All I can do is say I've 'given it a red-hot crack'.

"There's always been the 'what if', now I'll know the 'what'.

"Whether it works or it doesn't … for me, it doesn't matter.".

Dumb logic, the player who was in front at the same age doesn't necessarily mean a thing.
Cerra is probably ahead of Garry Ablett at the same age, certainly ahead of Dangerfield at the same age.

McEvoy wasn't a bad trade at all. It paid off for the Hawks and paid off for us. He may be better than our ruckman at the moment, but the trade allowed acquired as three other guys who are regular players.

Only a win if Acres or Dunstan come on. Most fans see to hate Savage and want him dropped. He's struggled to be best 22 for a lot of his time too. At the moment it's a fail though.

Interesting post by a Richmond supporter on the main forum. He suggests that Darcy Moore is on his way to the Saints in 2019. In a trade that involes a swap of 1st round picks with Collingwood eg 3 for 13 to be ontraded by Collingwood plus a player for Tom Lynch GCS.

Apparently Darcy and Jack Sinclair are best mates.

Saints gain pick 13 & Darcy Moore
Lose pick 3

Collingwood gain Tom Lynch GCS
Lose pick 13, Darcy Moore & player.

I hope that's crap. That would be one of the dumbest things we have done ever.

Because Cerra is a better player.

Apart from a few games last year, Sav has pretty much been 22 for us.

He's probably bottom 6 but a pretty handy player skill wise.

Needs a good midfield to take some pressure off defence.

Club gets bagged for being safe with drafting and I know Cat B rookies are not a huge risk, but the club is trying to recruit from outside the box.

Big American ruckman who managed a couple of AFL senior games and s couple of Irish lads on the cusp.

Give the big bigger a go I reckon.

Probably been mentioned already but Gilbo reckons he can go around next year and would do so at another club. Gilbo and Mav to GCS for what or who?
