Yuk, he's okay, maybe marginally better than hickey IMO... average forward, not really a #1 ruckmen though, would keep Marshall out of the side...

Would have preferred we went much harder for Fyfe or Rockliff last year, we have so much money we could have got both.

I might be late to the party, but if we did land Lycett and with pierce’s Development, where the heeeel does that leave hickey and longer?! Surely they’re worth 3rd rounders at best?

I think that would be a pretty good result at this point, tbh. Get a couple of third rounders in and see if we can pick up a couple of decent players at pick 40 or so.

unfortunately you have to pay overs if you want to get players in.

Won't cost picks, just cash.

Once again, better than over paying spuds on our list.

Exit Longer and Hickey and it's probably cash flow neutral.

I also heard news today about one of our best 22 ( not Billings) has told his manager he wants out . He said hes not the only one . He’s contracted for next year . I can’t say who it is as it came from his family . Has me worried about how many we may lose next year if Richo can’t turn this around.
A mid year sacking next year might be required if we’re still looking bad half way thru next year

The fact that he hasn't been sacked yet shows how weak this club is. To gutless to admit we screwed up and make a big move.
It's like the club just hopes to improve without doing much.

As long as we keep pick 4, then its worth the risk.

I'm happy to take the risk on Hanners (allthough I would lean towards believing he is past it. Hoping I'm wrong) as long as this nuffy club doesn't trade any 1st round pick for him.

If we’re offering big money to Lycett, then I imagine the club has a trade (or two) lined up for Hickey and/or Longer, such that the gained pick(s) are worth burning salary cap space. Whilst Lycett is definitely an upgrade, I don’t think he’s a 5x~700k upgrade; whilst some of the “overs” would come from the fact it’s a Free Agency offer, I still don’t see it adding up to that figure without extra incentives for the club (e.g second round pick(s)).

No one else would spend that money on Hanners, that's for sure. We have money to burn.

Of course, completely agree.

I just think we shouldn't be picking up talls ever again. At least not until we have some semblance of an AFL quality midfield.

We can make do with our current rucks. Our current key forwards have plenty of potential and just need games. Our current key backs can't all get a game even when we have heaps of injuries/suspension.

Picking up Lycett is going to make our list demographically worse, adding to our logjam in the ruck and forward. As we saw with Pierce, there's some potential already on our list, but unless we get them consistent games we'll never know if they're good enough.

If we pick up Lycett and then trade out Longer or Hickey and Bruce or McCartin or something - maybe it's ok. But I have a strong feeling we'll get him then fail to exit any of the others.

That will leave us with players with potential mouldering and losing value in the twos. And we'll still be losing games because our midfield will still be poor.

Hickey & Longer aren’t up to it & Pierse has had 1 good game in 5 years.

Hickey & Longer aren’t up to it & Pierse has had 1 good game in 5 years.

I for one just want to see change & an upgrade on players is a start.

Imo lycett is a significant upgrade on both hickey and longer. The biggest risk is his continuity of games but he's played all this year.

A Wet toast guy i speak to reckons he's ready to explode next year. They dont want to see him go i can assure you

He is streets ahead of Hickey and Longer.
Get Lycett.
Trade one or both of Hickey, Longer.
Retain Pierce.

And above all, keep Pick 4
