Your trying to tell me that he is actually human? The way some in here carry on he is the second coming of Jesus.. lol.. Stewart was Scarletts work.. Blicavs - ok in regular season but turns to water in pressure games/finals so not a great example. Selwood was an obvious pick.

Lol. I’m not even going to bother.

If you exclude the future picks and other trades, and just look at who was selected per club, I'd have Suns and Dockers at the front obviously. Giants, Swans, Port, Cats in the next best. Lions just after them.

If we had a younger midfield I reckon Wells would of pounced on Kemp. I don't think we could of waited a few years to get him back on the park

Given that we have traded away a lot of our late picks next year, it suggests we will use those first round picks next year. And try go for a FA next year. That would be by far the smartest strategy to stick to.

If we need to get a ready made midfielder at the trade table, we could probably dangle a first round pick for an up and coming player with a later pick back to us, like late 2nd rounder, or early 3rd rounder.

GWS have a couple of handy ones coming out of contract...

Ahhhh, nice trade with Gold Coast for you guys. Even though it will get pushed back several spots one would assume at this stage, it's still is a nice asset that Wells should be able to do plenty with one way or another.

Still wondering wtf actually happened there. Steal with a sweetener added
Yeah not sure that one will be pushed back that far. Reading some of the early analysis on the draft boards they seem to be of the opinion that most of the academy kids will be more of a Mead/Maginess rather than a Greek. There's apparently Ugle-Hagan then daylight. Not that that won't change but indications 11 doesn't slide much further than 15

Hope we pick Chirgwin l think the kids grandfather played for Geelong.
Would be a big thrill for him.
Taheny, and Stephens will play next year, along with Kennerley and Kreuger.

Genuinely want Sokol in the rookie draft. Have wanted him all year, and he'd be a great fit for us

Sokol will have instant impact kicks tons of goals and marks aplenty.

Okay Best 22 Under 24yo @ 31 Dec 2019:

FB Henry, DeKoning, ??
HB O'Connor ?? Zuthrie
C Clark Constable Narkle
HF Fogarty Kreuger Taheny
FF Cockatoo SavRat Miers
Foll: ??, C Stephens, Parfitt
Inter Kennerly, Brownless, Jarvis, Parsons, Simpson, Okunbor, Evans, Tarca, Schlensog

Stephens slightly high but not much. It's not like he was in the 50s in projections like the hysteria. He was going at 21 at worst.

De Koning was about right so content is the right feeling.

If we got Taheny at 26, people would have been content.

If 39 Wells used it on a smokey as our last pick, people would grant him that luxury.

It's a matter of perception but we walked away with what would make most people happy or at least content prior to the draft.

Oh and we got pick 11 next year.

Overall I'm content to happy.

Add three first round picks next year into that group, and I can live with that...

Thread suggestion for next year. Not a nearest to pin of who we select in the draft but instead a nearest to the pin for what year Dodoro will decide to draft inside midfielders. They're kinda important to winning finals me thinks.

Gold Coast did Gold Coast things...haha. To be fair though, Sharp will be a gun, and they got gifted that from the AFL, so what do they care. Still, it's a huge win for us.

Well here's how I'm choosing to view trade and draft as a whole (as I see it):

OUT: T. Kelly, Future 3rd (Geel.), Future 3rd (GC), Smith, Pick 41 (hypothetical swap, given Taheny's projected status), Pick 58, Pick 63, Future 4th
IN: Steven, Jenkins, C. Stephens, S. De Koning, Taheny, Evans, Future 2020 1st: Pick 11 GC , Future 2020 WC 1st: 14-18

Our 2019 draft can also be looked at like this:

Pick 16 - Cooper Stephens, player that the reigning premiers wanted
Pick 19 - Sam De Koning, player that many wanted - best tall behind McAsey
Pick 27 - Taheny (where he should have gone, given his scope and all draft predictions) - (hypothetical swap, given Taheny's projected status)
Pick 50 - Evans
Future 1st, Pick 11

**********

If we can pick up someone like a Sokol or Partington tomorrow, or one of our own guns from our VFL/local side/s, then there is no-one who could complain about that (I'm sure the usual suspects will though). Missing Kemp and Robertson is a tad annoying (Robertson, me thinks that Geelong have had a gutful of dealing with West Coast and 'go home' status, so I'm fine with it now), but to trade up from Pick 27, to Pick 11 AND another pick, that was then used to be on traded to get Taheny, is magic. I also love that Jarvis, Kennerley and Taheny are all mates, so we're building a little crew there, haha.

A few ups and downs, and a few different players I would have taken (Riccardi instead of Evans for mine), but overall, I'm very happy with Stephens and Taheny, and SDK has huge upside in the future. Hopefully we nail our rookie picks with some gems, and that'll be another solid draft to go with Kreuger, Kennerley, Atkins and Clark from last year.

BRING ON 2020!!

Does anyone have a handle on what picks we have in the 2020 draft after the 3 first rounders? ( And the club they are attached to).
They have come and gone at quite a rate.

Three r1s and our original r2. We traded our r3.

His best move was like p50ish and 65 next year for taheny.

Pick 40 (GC Future 3rd), 63 and 70 (Future Geel. 4th) for Taheny, to be fair. It's still more than reasonable, given that Taheny is worth a pick in the mid 20's, and 63 and 65-70 are nothing picks. Essentially, 40-50 next year, for 50 this year (40 next year will be about 55 once academy bids are done with, so it doesn't really matter).

The other way to look at it is, we gave up Pick 37 for Jenkins, and got a GC Future 3rd back with him in return. So it's Jenkins and Taheny, for 37 and 40-50. I can definitely deal with that.
