Yeah, he would have been IMO. Smith is essentially a taller, more athletic Nicholls. They both have the same level of ruck craft.

But he has absolutely no aggression in him whatsoever as ST mentioned. Super nice guy, but not suited for league footy.

FWIW I'm still in favour of keeping Nicholls around. Players love him. Supporters love him. Won't cost us much at all.

Nicholls has been a great clubman ,may not be greatest footballer but much better than Smith who offers nothing.
Nicholls will only be delisted if we find a better alternative.

Nicholls actually looked a heap better this year in the NEAFL than years prior. Hes a worthy backup and I would much rather him than Smith as he actually tackles and wins ground ball quite well.

Please correct my memory but I believe that in 2015 Nicholls and Smith competed for #1 ruck position. Nicholls won and Smith asked to be traded in the off-season looking for more opportunities. FWIW, Nicholls was solid in NEAFL this year, beat all AFL back up ruckmen (GWS, Lions, Swans).

Before Darcy Cameron injured he tear Nicholls apart in NEAFl , if people don't believe me rewatch youtube clip. Also have a look at Neafl app who Nicholls ruck against. Backu backup Ruckmen.

Zac didn’t walk out on the club he wasn’t offered a contract.
Zac was one of the only few that actually loved the club in that time period.

Can only imagine what Bods said to his kids when they wet the bed.

Isn't it Knoll only knew his new teamate a few week. Is hard enough to play in one team in a season, to play for two teams in SANFL, SA team and NEAFL you need a bit of concession and luck again Nicholls who had a several AFL pre season . Knoll is good but he did not even knew much about his Sydney teamates or proper AFL pre season.

If you paid Nicholls 100 to 250k more than Knoll for a few year , you don't expect him to perform better than Mid season Rookie pick ?

I remember him being really good around his feet and on the contested ground ball initially then it was like he forgot entirely how to do that and was hopeless

Yeah I bought up Menengola a few months ago - has been dropped at times. Really good point you made about Steven.
Depends what happens with Kelly though..

I think he is exactly what we need.

Lovely long kick, kicks goals.
