This trade radio makes me sick how they argue it’s up to Sydney to come up with the right deal to get Daniher out of the bombers but freo should’ve just accepted pick 6 and future 3rd for Hill

Surely we can find someone better than a 29 year old delisted player who has had mental health issues?
As I understand priority this year is to get mature players who will be in our best 22. In my opinion he is not with a healthy list.he is in our best 22

Mate it wasn’t intended to offend. Living and supporting two immediate family members with severe mental health issues (and I mean one deemed totally incurable / home bound, and the other on lifelong medication to allow her to function in society) I think I’ve experienced more than 99% of the population the effects mental illness can have on the family and workplace. Please don't take this the wrong way, but that's an awful thing to say.
There are 2 main types - an 'ongoing' issue, drugs, alcohol, psychosis, severe depression anxiety etc.
These require long term treatment and as such, then yes, it would significantly affect a players performance.
The other is 'situational' - it could be a relationship break up, an illness to a loved one, or even a death in the family.
The fact that Matthew Broadbent only took 4 weeks leave suggests it was the latter. Medication to help sleep, counselling and a break are generally enough to start the 'mending' process the brain needs.
He has played decent football since his return, and with the time in the off-season, more counselling (if needed) and a break, he should be ok.
If anything,a move to sunnier new climes may be the best for him.
To reject someone because they have mental health issues is something I had hoped society had moved on from.
It's an illness of the brain, as much as a tear is an injury to a muscle. Both can be fixed and stay fixed with the right treatment and approach.
The guy can still play at the highest level, is free, and would probably welcome a change of scene.
To condemn him due to a short-term mental health issue is very backward looking and does you no favours IMHO.
Again I mean you no offence.
If he is on the road to a full recovery - he is in our best 22, and has 2 yrs at least in him.
At least have a conversation and see where things stand.![]()
Hanley way before Broadbent.....I'd go (if fit):
Ballard Thompson Hombsch
Broadbent Collins Harbrow
(Burgess and Hanley as needed) - totally respect your opinion though.
First round pick, yes but not top 10, so probably on the other side of the first round.
Dwayne Russell And Barlow r on trade radio for the next two hours with their famous “I’m afraid to offend anyone in Victoria so I’ll be a coward and attack the Gold Coast” Show.
One trade scenario that would secure Martin would involve the Blues handing over their first-round selection next year and Gold Coast handing over a second-round pick in return.
Carlton could back itself to rise up the ladder so would secure Martin for what is effectively a shuffle of about 10 picks back down the order.
Adelaide and Gold Coast have made little progress so far on a deal for Hugh Greenwood, with the Crows asking for the Suns’ pick 20 for the inside midfielder.
The Suns won’t hand over a pick of that quality given the Crows didn’t want to offer more than two years for Greenwood.
Similarly, Brisbane is baulking at handing over pick 21 for Gold Coast’s Callum Ah Chee after he nominated the Lions for a trade.
He's too far goneThe issue with Greenwood is going to be, now that there has been a clean out at adelaide. He could very well change his mind and decide to stay in SA, they could just offer him the 3rd year he wants. Would make us look like right idiots if he bails now, more draftees are going to do nothing for us.

Also disappointing with the lack of us chasing anymore targets. If we leave this trade period with just Greenwood and Ellis it has been a failure IMO.
