I think we could definitely do this. As I understand it, we can only pre-select Category B Rookies (eg Irishmen or people who haven't played footy for several years) or Academy kids on the primary list. We can add those Academy kids to our primary list by giving up our lowest draft picks. If we intend to add more Academy players to our Rookie list, we have to wait until after the National Draft. That gives every other club a chance to select them in the National Draft. If another club does select one, we'd have a chance to match the bid with the usual 20% discount. The only way we deny the opportunity for other clubs to make us match a bid is if we've preselected them on our primary list. I am sure we'll preselect Budarick. If we don't, someone else is bound to select him. I think we would prefer Rosas on our Rookie list. We can either accept the risk that someone will bid for him & just match a bid if that happens or we can make sure he's ours by preselecting him to our primary list with a late pick. To have room on the primary list, we might need to delist some extra players from our primary list, with the understanding that we will rookie them if no other club takes them in the National Draft. We would only do this with players we are prepared to lose, because other clubs could draft them, without us having any ability to match. I think we'll do this. Players like Schoenfeld, GHS & Corey Ellis would probably not be picked up by other clubs. The announcement of our draft concessions was vague, but that's how I understand the situation. I think we'll probably preselect Budarick & Rosas & just take any other Academy kids as rookies. Hopefully we can preselect other Academy kids as rookies if no club has listed them by the end of the National Draft.
