He can't survive ....the supporter feedback won't allow it ...the club has to be seen to be putting a broom thru the footy dept ....I still expect Burton to stay, but be moved to another role

Rumour was coach would be announced today
I don't really see how they can do it all at once. When you go out to market to hire for a role like Burton's, it's pretty hard to keep that quiet in an industry as media-saturated as this one. So the world would know we were hiring a new football manager or whatever the exact title is,even if we haven't announced that the old one is going. I don't suppose anyone is stalking Burton's LinkedIn page?
I can see Campo going sooner as part of announcing a new coach (ie here's new coach Matthew Nicks or whoever. He will be bringing in this bunch of assistants and Campo / Hart / whoever will be departing, we thank them for their service blah blah blah.

Bury the 'bad' news (key trusted senior figures who have been steering the club direction for years fired due to incompetence, costing the club massive $$$ in payouts) underneath the 'good' news (New coach! New structure! New assistants!)

If they were truly concerned about his value, wouldn't they offer Keath less coin or contract length?
Of course not, they are.just using this to get him cheaper. Getting the media involved as well.

As much as we’ve probably learned our lesson re broadcasting to the world our interest in contracted players, I doubt we’ve got much interest here. He’s simply going to be too hard to extract for it to be worth the risk.
I’ve no doubt we’d be “monitoring the situation” but probably not actively chasing him. Leave that to the “feel good story” chasers down the road...
Pods already has the job? His first role is being part of the coaching panel, a panel the Football Manger should head (And Burton not involved).
Coach announced. Then they announce the review is completed and as part of that one of the recommendations is that Burton be removed from that role (possibly gets another role at the club) and Pods takes over that role.
They guff it up a bit saying whilst working on the coaching panel it was obvious Pods has the right skillset to be Football Manager.

I dont understand the interest in Fantasia. Injury prone is nearly 25 and really had one great year. If he wasn't South Australian, I doubt neither us or Port would be interested.

Interestingly I think Matthew Robran has recently retired from his role at the club in admin/events... Brett Burton come on down?
I’m not commenting on the medical, I’ve got a fair handle on those things, I’m commenting on the wanting him on the cheap part.
Hopefully that is the truth. Don't want us spending one of our high picks on him. Let Port deal with Essendon
Pyke's resigning may make it more difficult for Burton to survive, but the opposite can also hold true. Moving Burton on (killing his career actually) will be tough for his ex playing buddies and friends in the club hierarchy. They will look to not 'destroy' him and hopefully at worst move him sideways to a slow oblivion. On the other hand Pyke resigning has strengthened a 'life line' for Burton. He can posture tha Pyke was the real problem and a fresh clean start can be achieved under a new coaching arrangement. I hope Pykey has not made it easier for the fraternity to serve up a package which saves Burton.
