Would have been happy to discuss it but you clearly didn’t read my post, and getting personal is calling someone a d**k
Is this mick500?

I'll be interested to see how much more midfield minutes fog gets in our remaining reserves games.
Makes me wonder if he is earmarked for time at centre bounces in the future and this could be part of the thinking with not offering Greenwood and Cam larger contracts as big bodied mids.
Hopefully he can have a big pre season to get his fitness up for this to happen.
Probably wishful thinking but something to ponder none the less.

There is a big fish out there, only;
Pyke forgot to get the bait
Burton forgot to bring the fishing rods and
Roo forgot to bring the boat.

But it's ok, because Chapman conducted an internal review and said we were doing really well at tiddlywinks.

It's got the feeling of full rebuild

What exactly did Viney do that was good ??

In a coaching sense I mean.

Not better in 2020, better in 2022, which is very possible.

I'm open to trading Brad if we don't believe he'll add another position to his game seeing we want to maximise how many midfield rotations we can have in our lineup. Same deal if we don't believe the explosiveness will come back. Though, of course, I'm happy to hold onto him seeing there is a good chance both will happen.
I don’t know that he is our best Midfielder. Matt’s 2017 season far exceeded Brads 2019 season, I mean it’s not even close. I’ve watched a lot of Brad very closely and I have to say. He’s good, but not the shining light that so many people in here make him out to be. And given his perceived lack of burst since his last injury, I’m really not sure there is all that much more growth in his game.

Bottom line is if someone offered me a top 10 pick for him this offseason...

Mate, start the car!

Which top 10 draft pick is guaranteed to be better than Brad?

Go read any statistical analysis of the draft. It’s a gamble at best. Trading Brad Crouch for a draft pick does not improve our list and does not get us any closer to a premiership.

Unless we are somehow bringing in a replacement, mid-20s midfielder then it’s just stupid list management.

I don’t ever really remember Brad being super quick. He’s got a touch of explosiveness out of the contest, but I never recall it being any better than it is now?
Memory is fading, but IIRC Brad's early highlights did include a fair bit of Danger type running that we don't see these days.

Where I differ from Nikki, I think, is that I don't think that change makes him a less valuable player to the extent that he's expendable (except maybe in a godfather trade but it would have to be massive overs).

We don't need to trade out Brad as part of a midfield fix. We need to change the structures, gameplan and players around him.

Matt Crouch's 2017 was amazing. I think a lot of people have forgotten how good he was that year.

Forced his way into the AA team when I guarantee none of the selectors wanted to pick him!

That’s just as ridiculous. We were minor premiers, of course we got a couple of AA spots

Incidentally Sloane finished 4th in the coaches MVP award, MCrouch didn’t make the top 10

Not saying he didn’t have a very good year, just disagreeing with the daft idea it was some season for the ages.

Brad has played every game this year.
All these pot shots at him about speed and explosiveness should come after next year.

He's had a great year considering how shit we are and he has had virtually 18months off.

If only football was that simple.

That is the secondary concern with the main question boiling down too - is removing another inside midifelder with limited versatility, and replacing with someone who is not only capable of doing more outside damage, but also having another position going to make our midfield a much more cohesive unit in the long term? If that answer is believed to be yes, then the career of that top 10 pick is rather irrelevant to this discussion.

Those lead onto my two big concerns - does the explosiveness come back? and can Brad find some versatility so we can have more flexibility in our midfield rotations? It's not a Tom Lynch deal for me where I'm a hard trade, but I'm open to it if our medicos/coaches don't believe either will develop/come back.

Our midfield improved over losing Dangerfield because it forced upon us a more cohesive set up (if you ever want an indictment on how shit Camporeale is as a coach, it is that). Brad may do the same because we are very inside heavy, and if this decade has done anything, it's shown that winning the inside ball is not the be-all and end-all to a premiership side.

Smith wasn't even selected as a batsman when he made his debut - he was a mediocre leg spinner, at a time when we were desperately searching for the next Warne or MacGill.

This isn’t really true.

While the media got on board the next Warner train; Smith AND Hughes were dominating the domestic comps like few kids before them.

Nobody would’ve seen this coming (I actually thought Hughes had the potential to be an all time great, but the selectors messed him around too much before we lost him), but he was a quality junior batsman.

The rumour is I really mean it today.

The rumour is as much as I think this thread is ridiculous, I will fulfill my duties as a mod, and give a day off to anyone who posts in this thread as discussion, instead of rumour.

The rumour is, every post must start as "The rumour is" or "I heard a rumour" or some variation thereof.

Don't let me down people, rumour away.
Go get em Deaneus, let the reds fly!

Hope that counts for those stupid non rumour ones.

More chance that Adelaide drivers learn how to zip merge correctly than people obeying the rules in that thread.

Well that isn’t happening in this or any parallel universe.

Plus Adelaide drivers have no idea re : giving way on roundabouts - you only give way to those on the roundabout, not those about to enter.
