Having a spineSorry what were our alternatives to accepting Greenwood offer?
Look more closely at the Jenkins trade - we have a GC 3rd round - so let’s say pick 38-39 next year for pick 37 this year. We pay half his salary too. Not complaining but he ended up worth less than zeroWins:
CEY for Pick 49. Not a trade but that's decent
Jacobs for Frampton. Thought we'd get nothing for Sauce.
Par:
Betts for 2020 4th. Had zero value
Keath for 2020 2nd (effectively). About right
Loss:
Jenkins and Greenwood for 37 and 2020 4th. Jenkins has no value but Greenwood was worth a pick in the 20s. Reamed hard on that one.
Moderate fail overall. Would have been nice to get a bit more from Keath and we were reamed with Greenwood
dropping from pick 3 (which is the 1st pick outside of Anderson And Rowell - GC will take both and you can take that to the bank) to pick 4 means that GWS can now deal with Melbourne on a possible pick swap so they can get in ahead of us and Sydney before a bid for tom green comes. They will be prepared to pay a big big premium to move up from 6 to 3. So for us, unless melbourne are simply not interested in a pick swap, we have no bargaining power with GWS as they can simply trade for pick 3 insteadI missed this, what did they do? We still hold the cards on this, right?

Eight older players gone. Most of them we won't miss. Either fading away or not being picked anyway
Andy Otten (Retired)
Richard Douglas (Delisted)
Sam Jacobs (GWS)
Hugh Greenwood (GC)
Alex Keath (Western Bulldogs)
Eddie Betts (Carlton)
Josh Jenkins (Geelong)
Cameron Ellis-Yolmen (Brisbane)
Got less back for some of them than we'd like but apart from retaining Mackay it was the list culling we needed.
I am tipping he our run with player, runs all day mongrel and tackle hard. and he win his own ball.I'm going to be very, very disappointed if Neddy with his super elite endurance and hardness is developed as a small forward....
Adelaide have already lost the most player value to other teams. With 6 of those leaving conceivably walking into the best 22 of their new teams, that amount is going to swell to comical proportions.Massive net loss....I think you are delusional.

Meanwhile Adelaide have acquired someone who has played 3 games in 5 years for Port Adelaide, and a bunch of chances to brag about how they recruited someone at pick #327 but actually turned out to be as good as a pick #291.
We got more for Greenwood than we did for Keath. Greenwood essentially 37 and 56 values Greenwood at 28 thinking points for next year. Keath (based on Dogs position this year) 32 and 45 but giving back our 3rd - where will we finish you think? 12-14? So giving back pick 42 or there about?Having a spine

Well over for Jenkins? Check the trade. We get 37 and we give GC future 3rd? What’s that pick 37 before compo next year - plus we pay his salary ?Absolutely soft on Keath.
Well overs for Jenkins.
Offloaded a fair chunk of wasted salary.
Pick 15 - where did that come from?Having picks that equal 28 on points is not the same as having pick 28
Or do you think we'll be able to trade pick 37, 45 and 49 for pick 15?
Pick 15 - where did that come from?
My point being we got 32 for Keath plus a downgrades 3rd round. We got 37 and an early 4th round for Greenwood. So when you say we got teamed on Greenwood but about right for Keath just doesn’t make sense - we got arguably more for Greenwood than Keath and he could have walked to the PSD
No - disagree. None of the departed had any currency of note. Clean slate, fresh start. Positive moves. You're delusional if you think this is anything other than a massive net loss.
Except if it suits you to have the sort of rebuild that requires years to judge.
How did we get well over for Jenkins? We basically got equivalent picks and are paying half his contract?Absolutely soft on Keath.
Well overs for Jenkins.

So ... IF we keep #4 and GWS get #3 - given those three picks are done and dusted- who would we target?dropping from pick 3 (which is the 1st pick outside of Anderson And Rowell - GC will take both and you can take that to the bank) to pick 4 means that GWS can now deal with Melbourne on a possible pick swap so they can get in ahead of us and Sydney before a bid for tom green comes.
